I'm a Rifleman 3-0-1-1 with Headshot 3. For experience Ive been taking out some Maulers north of Theed. Headshot3 is great - but as everyone here knows, it puts a drain on the mind (along with my laser rifle powerup). I was checking out their HAM and they run about 3-4K HAM. They con white to me and it when mousing over my HAM it says I have a pretty low HAM of about 700! Now I know this is a n00b question so I apologize. But even stat migration isnt going to help much.

How can I increase my HAM in hopes of firing more than 4 headshots without depleting my mind? I migrated my stats to increase mind to about 1K but still. I'm also thinking of investing in some Brandy - I hear that helps the mind pool.

Thanks

right now until the combat revamp and ham changes its all about the secondaries.

mind is just the pool you draw from.

focus is how much a special costs to execute get focus over 1400 through migration or buff or however and special cost is 0

willpower is how fast you regenerate mind upon use.

Ahhh - so if I migrate more points to focus and willpower it should improve my use of special skills. Thanks!

I also see that an Armor macro would definitely help. I have composite armor that I wear most of the time.. but I noticed the great encumberance it puts on my stats. So I just created"WearArmor" and "RemoveArmor" macros. I'm a Rifleman/Swordsman so I can take care of the anything that gets close. Unfortunately I have to sacrifice a great deal of Action pool to up my Focus.. but that'll have to work.

Hopefully by the time it gets in my face I've done some considerable damage

The previous description is absolutely correct. Mind is the pool, Focus reduces the the amount of damage you do to your own pool from using specials that use mind, and Willpower affects the mind pool regen rate. The same is true of Action, Quickness, and Stamina, respectively, and of Health, Strength, and Constituition, respectively.

As a Swordsman, I, too, cannot put all my points into my mind stats because that means that I cannot use my two handed weapons unbuffed. Add to that the fact that you are divided even further within Swordsman, because the Powerhammer hits the Health pool the hardest and the other 2H weapons affect the Action pool the most. Thus, you have to figure out a balance.

The higher the Strength, Quickness, and Focus stats, the less your own speicals will affect you. But you also need enough of the pool itself to keep from getting killed too quickly. Therefore, I have my stats set up for 700/500/400 on Health and Action and 800/800/600 on mind.

The thinking there is that I need a sufficiently large enough pool that I can take a hit or two. 700, 700, and 800 are enough to do that in most situations. Next,I am never going to have enough points for make a meaningfully high enoughregen rate. This is especially true since Iam a Novicemedic andI can heal my own health and action. So the more important stat in the secondaries is the one that keeps you from using too much of the pool. Therefore, Strength, Quickness, and Stamina are higher than Constitution, Stamina, and Willpower.

Also, makes sure you are using powerups that reduce HAM costs. I use a Max Damage or Speed + Health cost powerup for my Powerhammer,a Max Damage + Action cost for my other 2 Handed weapons, and a Max damage or Speed + Mind powerup for my rifles. If you are using a lot of HAM, make sure the HAM cost modifier of the powerup is the higher stat.

However, bottom line is that Buffed, Health and Action costs are not an issue, and with Brandy + Canapes and Entertainer Mind buffs if you can get them, mind costs are not an issue either.
