Thread: So why is conceal shot so good?
No, don't be mislead, conceal shot while very good is not the end all and be all shot for riflemen.
You can still get aggroed by Krayts using conceal shot. Those that have soloed Krayts using conceal shot were either using skill enhancements, had ranger or scout skills to maskscent, buffed, etc. and were dang lucky or they were telling a fish story. Also, you DO NOT solo krayts until your an MRM in my opinion or have some serious skill enhancements. Believe me I've tried.
Personally, my fav shot is strafe2 or flushing shot 2. It's an AOE attack and I have gotten over 4k a hit using powerups on my sliced T21 using strafe2 (available only as MRM). ![]()
Don't get me wrong, conceal shot was my bread and butter early on while beginning rifleman. If you aren't a CH or have a nice tank pet/droid to cover your arse, conceal shot is still very nice. It was the first leg I worked on initially. ![]()

I hear everyone talking about how you can kill anything in PvE with conceal shot. Someone even said they soloed a krayt with it! Isn't there a chance the creature will detect you or anything? How exactly does it work?
If it's really so good it's a wonder the devs haven't nerfed it yet...
Here is how ConcealShot works. When using it the target can not detect you unless you miss the target two or three times.
However Riflemen have noticed something we call the 1 point bleed. Sometimes when using ConcealShot the target will get a bleed for 1 point per tick. We are not sure what causes this but it is suspected to be related to the weapons wound chance. So then the bleed ticks once or twice the target will detect you since that accounts as an attack and isn't a ConcealShot.
So to remain undetected you have to use ONLY ConcealShot and not miss or cause a bleed. ConcealShot is a random damage attack and how a lower multiplier than the higher level Rifleman skills. It also has a fairly high HAM cost multipler and one of the longer delays.
So it is possible to solo a Krayt with ConcealShot. However I've also heard that in those cases it took 2-3 hours to do so. Factor in the time, cost of supplies for spice, food, and buffs, and weapon decay for that constant use, and it isn't to cost effective to do so. A decent sized group could in that same time period kill many more Krayts and would allow the Rifleman to use more effective attacks ensuring a much faster kill, more xp in the same time, and a better chance at some loot.

Soloing a Krayt depends on the type of Krayt. I"ve managed the normal Canyon ones (heavy armor, 70% energy resist, lots of HAM) in about 20 minutes or so. But that is with a speed sliced T21 with a powerup and chef food. The ancient ones can take over an hour with over 20 people hammering the thing. It probably isn't cost effective but /concealshot does work. It even works on the Nightsister Elders. But it is somewhat slow and boring. Don't worry too much about the "uber" loot. You almost never get anything worthwhile off the corpse anyway. Just go out and enjoy the game.
