Thread: Rifleman Speed Overrated
For a master rifleman, basically anything below an 8 or 9 speed on your rifle still gives you a 1.0 speed. Speed slices are great for a rifleman in training who hasn't gone up the rifle skills line and gotten more speed. ANY Master Rifleman should tell you that you want a damage slice when you're at Master. A speed slice at that level is 100% useless. Most serious players also use Power Ups, so if you are working rifles and want to deal with the hastle of reloading P'ups, a damage slice is for you also....
Plus, I thought ranged damage mitigation helped to lessen ranged attacks on YOU, not increase your ranged attacks on others.....am I 100% incorrect?

But usually... when you're a Master Rifleman, you want the fastest speed possible. So, you go out and find skill tapes. ![]()
Who wouldnt go out and buy a Rifle Speed skill tape?
Anyone who can't afford to pay the 1M+/point?

If you're talking about auto-fire then you're probably correct. I wouldn't know because I rarely use it in pvp and I can't imagine others do either. He's talking about speeds in relation to special shots and I can guarantee you that a 8 or 9 speed rifle can't hit 1.0 speed using specials(strafe2) even with Master Marksman.

You're correct. Unless you're talking about ranged mitigation of someone else
like the original poster was.

At master rifleman (90 speed), anything 10 speed or lower will be capped for a regular attack. Honestly, when do you use a regular attack?
Here's some interesting numbers that you should be aware of.
At 90 speed, a rifle needs <5.1 speed to cap headshot3.
At 90 speed, a rifle needs <2.9 speed to cap strafe2.
At 90 speed, a rifle with 8 speed has a 1.6 second rof for headshot3.
At 90 speed, a rifle with 8 speed has a 2.8 second rof for strafe2.
Most people only pay big money for like +5 tapes in my experience.

OMG people pay that much for +1 tapes!?! I have like 10 points in speed tapes that I don't use because I am a Master Rifleman / Master Commando. Boy, I should sell those...

I'd say it starts with 1M/+ at +3 on my server. And then increases fast. I think a +8 was sold for 12-13M a week ago. And now a +5 is up to 5.5 with several hours to go.
