Thread: Attacking lairs
Huh....
I soloed a sharnaff lair (unbuffed) last night as a 1/0/0/1 rifleman. This is what I did.....
First, I'm a wookiee, so I don't have super-composite, but I do have 53% kinetic wookiee armor, which is the best I can get. It helps a lot.
Ialso drank two brandies and had a full belly. God help me, I can't remember what the namesof all the new foods are but I split it three ways with the stuff that mitigates damage, the stuff that increases focus, and the stuff that increases accuracy. I use a speed-sliced T21 with a speed power up.
I know you're asking about the lairs, but I should point out to anyone else trying sharnaff's (greatgrinding mob for any elite combat profession, I've done a few almost exclusively on sharnaffs) is that you have to take out the bulls first. Bulls will social aggro you if you arein combat with any other sharnaff, so they are your first priority. I don't have conceal shot, so I mind shot them first (to get a bleed going) then just spamed head shot 2. When it was time to take out the lair, I stood at 63m to get myself as much space as possible between the spawns-I-know-are-coming and myself. I simply used the default attack on the lair and watched my radar. As soon as I saw a new mob pop up, I tabbed to it and started the bleed/headshot combo again. Worked like a charm.
I should mention that I am also a medic and was using Stims on myself when they got close enough to hit me, but I figure that in a couple more skill boxes, I'll be dropping them before they even get close enough to attack.
Okay, here's the way that has worked for me since long, long ago....
Take out the original spawn.
Shoot the lair ONE TIME, like the previous poster mentioned. Be sure and hit 'PEACE' after your first shot, or you may continue to "auto-attack" the lair. If you are far enough away from the lair, you should NOT get aggroed. If you are, then I have never heard of this problem and you might want to open a CSR Ticket against the animal AI.
Now after the "one-hit on lair" spawn is dead, there will be one more spawn that shows up at 65% of lair health. I know It is hard to tellexactly where 65% is on the lair health bar, so here is the trick I use:
My target's health bar is near the upper right of my screen. I have "stretched" it out a bit (made it bigger).
My COMBAT window is also up there, and shows up on top of the enemy health bar.
I have adjusted the size of the target health bar AND the combat window so that the LEFT EDGE of the Combat Window is exactly at 65% of the health bar. I know EXACTLY when to stop shooting and hit PEACE to prepare for the final spawn.
May take some trial and error to get it right for you, but it sure made things easy for me. Good Luck!
