Have a couple thoughts in mind..... my jedi obviously has no chance to solo against krayts, but i would like to be able to loot pearls alone. If your advice is: "find a group", please dont bother posting here.... because i do hunt in groups, but also play at weird hours
1: Rifle/Sword/tka 4004....... dunno how redundant this would be. I could just take Sword/Fence/Brawl/tka4004 and go melee all the way, but i figured AP3 would give an edge + conceal
2: Rifle/TKM/fencer4440 ... potential problem here is that krayts are 100%resist kinetic. TKM wouldnt do me much good...... perhaps it would, im not sure
3. Rifle/Ranger/ Marksmen...... probably could find them easier..... but i'll be damned if i could drop one.
Thanks for the input..... the only reason for creating this character is to kill High End mobs

I personally have done the mixed ranged/melee for krayt killing and have found it to be somewhat ineffective. Reason is fairly simple really, I can't have both equipped at once, so I was barely use one or the other of the 2 skills. You can of course stick your poisons and your bleeds from each profession on, or switch back and forth, but to me, if you're just krayting, to find a better combo.
Prof combinations that I feel are very strong for killing krayts include:
Riflemen/Doc: Just whail away with strafe2 or headshot3 and stim E any damage away. Kill time on a giant canyon would be about 15 minutes solo if speed capped, 20-25 otherwise
Swordsmen/Doc: Same as above only insert headhit3. 20 minutes speed capped, 30-35 otherwise
Swordsmen/CM: My favorite krayt killing combo. Throw on the heavy poisons and disease and go to town. Kill time of about 15 minutes.
TKA or Fencer / CM: OK krayt killing combo - reliant upon poisons to do most of the damage. 45 minutes to kill a giant canyon.
Since you're looking for a jedi protector also, I'd recommend rifle/doc. Hard hitting offense with the ability to cure poisons/diseases, heal states, buff, and use the best stims.

thanks for the input..... CM does seem pretty viable with Rifle, although i havent played CM in forever. My alt is a buffbot doc/music.... so buffs are not an issue. My biggest concern is killing the Krayt as fast as possilbe and according to your timelines, this may be the quickest: rifle/cm
Also, im glad you posted about ranged + meleenot being as effective...... its great to have otheropinions

You're best bet is something with swordsman honestly. Pike would work too if block negated 100% of th dmg. Anyways, if you have 125 melee def, running swords CoB macro you'll
1) Hardly get hit
2) be ale to do about 300-600 or 400-1000 dps with hh3 or 2hh3 with a PH or Scythe
(for the record, krayts arn't 100% kenetic.. acutally they don' even have a 100% resis to anything)
If you're deadset on keeping rifleman for other purposes, I would recomend something along the lines of M Sword/M Rifle/4000 fencer/0003 TKA
Rifleman is monst effective against a krayt, but only if they have a tanker
The above temp is probly the most effective template for soloing krayt

swordsman would be the best to solo with, but with RIfleman/doc i hardly ever get my kill stolen, unless it is a really big guild hunt with like5-10 guys.

When you go Rifle/Doc... are you just going toe-to-toe, heal, and healing state? Or are you kiting after conceal aggros?
Thanks

great post.... i wonder if Intimidate II from master brawl would be skill pts well bought if intimidate is so effective. Any experience using war cry in this as well?
Thx

best krayt template is 0 0 4 0 commando 0 0 4 0 pistol and either master swords/tka/fencer and some medic novice is enough
vs a giant you wont get kd/dizzied that often and flame dots own krayts. You would want to stack them. With this template you could even solo ancients.
but if you want rifle I would suggest getting some kind of melee mit. If you plan to use the rifle all the time fencer has the best defense so I would go with that.

Intimidate and Warcry 2 are good, but all they do is make it stick a little longer. Warcry then lasts 20 secs instead of ten and so forth.
I do warcry krayts every once in a while. SometimesI get bored, so i'll KD the krayt till it sticks then warcry right after. If you do it fast enough, it doesn't get up for 10 secs. Its just something fun to do.

I don't understand why people have that much of a prob soloing them. Maybe i have sweet armor or something, but i hardly take any damage from them, and can tank them all I want
I am TKM , MRM,medic 4240and I do it all the time.
First, make sure you are buffed well, with 2 Brandy and a few Ahrisa, plus PB
Stack intimidate a bunch of times, switch to rifle, MS1, MS2, then HS3 till it dies. Make sure you keep it intimidated as it does like 1/3 damage when it is,and make sure it has a couplebleeds on it at all times.
I don't usually have to, but its possible you may need to peace it if your mind gets too low. then come right back.
I can solo even giant canyon krayts, and have done on multiple occasions. If you don't believe me, let me know and i will post screenies.
Hope that helped

Problem with this, relieing on DoTs will get your KSed so simply. The template i posted above is very versitile(sp?), so you could solo with the PH or Bust out the t21 if you have that swordsman tank... the key to dealing with Krayts is intim... but since intim1 stacks nearly infinatly, it's just as effective as intim2

DOTs have begun to count towards your looting rights since the last release. So, a 15k burn is very nice when trying to get looting rights. Swordsmen/Riflemen combo - you can still only use one at a time, either tanking for yourself with a sword out and doing less damage, or using a rifle to do damage, but you have to be able to use heavy stims to tank as a riflemen.
A 4440 commando/master swordsmen/novice medic is a good krayting combo that might be able to give a master riflemen/master doc a run for their money in solo krayting. I don't personally believe that any prof combo could beat a master riflemen/master doc, tanking and strafe2ing, in a 1 on 1 battle for looting rights on a krayt at the moment. My $.02
