Thread: Rifleman and Commando or Rifleman and Bounty Hunter?
Welcome, LightningLdr.
I played around with Master Commando a bit on testcenter before the CU was released, and wasn't at all impressed with it (no offense to any MCommandosout there--I never played with it long enough to get good with it) I'm a MRM/MBH now and love it, and would highly recommend it. You get a lot of good mods and specials that compliment Rifleman nicely.
Rifleman really seems more suited to having BH paired with it. BH offers some useful skills (particularly a knockdown and a defensive move (Duelist Stance)) as well as accentuating the strength of a rifleman - putting a lot of hurt on one target.
That's not to say you couldn't be quite successful as a Rifleman/Commando, it's just my experience that it's not a great way to go.

Pairing up Commando with Smugglerand/or Pistoleer is by far the best way to be a havoc dealer in group PvP. Can be a devasting combination, however, if you do find yourself alone the template is good to mez/root, and get the hell out of there, the lack of offense (and defense) will kill you.
BH, is better suited to pair with Rifleman for more solo stuff.
I used to be a very effective Rifle/Commando, until they changed the way startle shot worked. I used to be able to do a KD/startle shot combo in one hit with a Rocket Launcher, target would stayKDed for a while until struck, that does not work anymore in PvE or PvP ![]()
