It is looted of the big named tick in the bottom of the cave. It is a well know rifle but not really worth to much other then for it's looks as it is surpassed by most CL 54 weapons. I would keep it and use it for when you want to be different. It does have a interesting looking shot and the weapon is kinda cool with the crystal barrel and all.

on a side note:

The Nak'tra was orginally created to be a smuggler weapon in the cu (even during testing) but the devs changed their mind as the were still giving pistol mods to the smugglers and decided to make them level using pistol skills vs giving them general ranged mods. So the rifle was shuffled around to the rifleman... We lost the proton rifle and gained this...
