I am a master weaponsmith and want some input on what types of stats you look for in a rifle for different situations:

What is most important when doing these things(sac, min-maxdamage, speed)to you and how much would expect to spend?

Grinding

PVE

High End

a grinding rifle for group combat would have to have low SAC, so you can put out the specials.

A PVP rifle is a High end rifle, so go as high as you can on damage and low on SAC without forgetting speed, if you can hit the damage cap with good tissues and experimentation do that, then they can lay down a mad speed slice. ofcourse, don't make a rifle with like 3-4 speed, that would be bad

I don't really know what to say about a PvE rifle, same as high end i guess.

It seems like the vast majority of uber rifles these days have close to 82 SAC, so that's probably a given. Damage and speed are both very important, though I don't consider one more important to the other because I always figure out what a weapon will be post-slicing before I buy it. As long as I can come close to capping the damage with a damage slice and still have enough customization points to get good speed, I'm happy. All else being equal, I look at the accuracy bonus too when comparing weapons, even though I am not sure if that stat is currently working.

I wouldnt be too concerned about speed myself. I go pve. And When i look at rifles my first concern is damage. Then i look at the sac. thirdly i look at the accuracy bonus and lastly the speed. You can alsways get it sliced for 12% speed reduction anyways if the damage and sac are capped and a decent accuracy bonus then you have a premium rifle.

Beware of DPS, it's not accurate. I did a test with my Trando rifle which was like 320 base dps and a ALR with higher max damage butonly 244 base dps. The ALR out damaged the Trando on every single shot! BTW, I repeated this test on alot of different mobs. My conclusion is Max Damage is still King, followed closely by SAC, then Speed. To heck with dps!

QFE, dps=damage divided by speed=useless

Damage and sac are most important elements, don't ignore speed tho

I look for good stats as a whole.

Damage Type
Speed
Damage Capability
Elemental Damage
Accuracy (+17 is the bare minimum. If no accuracy bonus, I disregard it)
SAC

DPS? I ignore this totally useless stat.

From my experience as a MRM/MBH speed is much more important against Jedi as I need volume fire to compensate for low to-hit rates (50% on Mdef.) This allows important skills to be used faster if one misses. So, to me all 3 are very important.

If you have good tissue I would tell your weaponsmith to experiment to 82 sac first, then experiment into dmg or speed. Both dmg and speed can be sliced to the cap fairly easily but SAC cannot be sliced. Most weaponsmiths that are any good can make you a rifle that will hit 82 SAC and close to max on dmg. Don't go too nuts on the speed because it doesn't have a hard cap, but will not be any faster for you if your modified speed is below 1.

Getting a custom gun can be expensive if you don't have the tissue or the schematics and parts. It should be easy to get the tissue since you are a rifleman. Just team up with a jedi who is looking for pearls and who has armor break and they go down really fast. Let him have the pearls and you take everything else. You should find some 100+ tissue after a couple of nights of hunting. If you are on flurry I have a bag of tissue you can browse through that I haven't put up for auction yet. We can work out a deal, just send me a tell.

For a good ALR all you need is the tissue and once you have that the gun should be pretty cheap. If you want a trando or something else you will also want to do the quest for a schematic and go loot the parts. If you get enough loot you can start custimizing guns for different situations.
