If you're talking a single skill and not a tree, I would say get Concealment I. Without master level speed or high accuracy, picking up a laser rifle with high accuracy mods and using concealshot will allow you to fight over your weight class and actually stay alive.

Concealshot breaks with a few misses, but good accuracy rifle and posture at the right distance will help a lot. Sniper line will help your accuracy but anything you don't kill right away will always argo on you anyways and you'll lose all that hard earned accuracy when you are forced to fight kneeling at point blank with a slow rifle. Besides, one skill box of sniper won't help much anyways.

If you can only get one box it may not be worth it. However if you still want to try I would say Concealment. That will give you /ConcealShot.
Yes it does break if you miss a certain number of times. You can /peace after a miss to reset this. So you should be ok if you are going prone from distance and keep an eye on things.
Just use Accuracy SEA's if you can along with accuracy enhancing food and an accurate rifle.
Getting Sniping would help your accuracy however considering it is only one box there won't be to much of a difference between that one box and not getting it. Also you can enchance accuracy as mentioned above. That leaves specials as the determining factor. In that regard I would say /ConcealShot is the best choice.

conceal shot breaks on two or more misses...
better to take accuracy unless you have /aim from marksmen and then conceal is ok to have.

I agree here 100%. If you can only have one Rifleman box, take ConcealShot or give back Novice.
Peeps may not like it for it's low damage over time, random HAM hits, and for the miss=agro thing, but if you get a good high accuracy Laser or Tusken (T21s are for power machine gunners, not finesse snipers!!!) at the right range, you should see +60 or better just from the weapon. Prone is good for another +50 and allows 3 misses before agro. If you still have issues with misses, get ideal range power-ups. Above all, takeyour time. If the shots not right, /peace & wait for the right shot. Wait for the target to stop moving. Move to a better spot. Wait for your marks allies to move away. A patient sniper is rewarded with victory. An impatient one is dead.

Really.. I hardly miss using Conceal Shot, I never /aim either. I just hit that sweet spot where your at +50 for just standing, hit prone, and spam conceal shot. Helps me take things down that it should be illegal at my level

unless something has changed /peace doesnt reset your misses. it just gives you a breather to consider whether or not you want to risk shooting that ancient krayt in the butt just onnnnnneeeee moooooreeee time....
