Thread: calculating rifle damage...
I made some shots (head, mind, flushing) with a T21 (armor piercing 3) against a quenker (25% energy resist, no armor)...
I noted that I shot (head shot in ths case) for a certain damage (for example 1571), but the number on the poor beast read much more (2307 in the same example). Every time the number is 46% higher than the shot. Is this only the AP vs AR? Or is it also the energy resist? and in this case, which comes first? with some rounding it seems that the resist happens before AP:
1571 * 0.75(resist) * 1.95(AP 3-AR 0 bonus) = 2297
and now a question arises: where is added the multiplier for the special move? I mean, if I Head shot3 for 1891 damage, it seems that the base damage was 1891/3 = 630.3, but first: it is not an integer, and second: the weapon has a max damage of 583... is it true that rifle weapons have a 50% damage output bonus?
I hope to get some understanding... even if it's pretty useless

and in the last page of another similar thread, there is my reply with an example

Calculations are right, but I suppose that the game mechanics do some rounding in showing damage: an example is my acid rifle that does for example 1870 damage (before AP and resistance) and I see 1871 on screen (after AP and res).

The combat spam I believe lists the base damage times the specials multiplier. The floaty damage you see over the MOB is the actual damage. That takes into account AP vs AR and resists.
I don't think that it really matters in what order you multiply everything. It should turn out pretty much the same. Rounding is where it gets tricky.
Yes Rifles have a 50% damage bonus over the base listed damage. However that is for all weapons and not just Rifles. Multiply the base damage by 1.5X to get the true auto-fire damage spread.
The best way to test this is probably against another player without armor. Reason being that a player is vulnerable to all damage types which means no AP damage bonus or resists. It simplifies the numbers and makes the testing easier to figure out.
