im about to switch to it.. and im wondeing if i should go 4000, or 0400, or 0040, or 0004 or some other combo.. keep in mind that to get any of those i listed that i will have 1 sp remaining.

I rifles tree really isnt worth it, youd be better off going 0040 pistoleer

if you want melee defense, go up pistoleer 0/0/0/4 riflemn is really a no dabble proffesion.

Rifleman doesn't have great defenses.

You either master it, or leave it alone.

Speed kills. Go for Rifle Abilities. However you would probably be better off taking another profession if you can only get one line. Rifleman is in a rare position that you are far better off either Mastering it or leaving it alone.

It depends on what you want to get out of it. If you just want it for PvE. Then I would suggest getting Concealment I for /ConcealShot and then getting some speed. And if you can, Sniping I.

if you need +40 melee defense, then special abilities (0004).

if you need +40 ranged defense, then concealment (0400).

if you're actually thinking of using rifles, then free up 42 more skill points and get master rifleman.
