Hey everyone a little new to the forums but been playing SWG for a while. I've noticed there have some discussions how many of the rifleman's abilities are virtually useless in PvP. I think nI may have a solution. What if the rifleman had the ability to disappear from another players radar. Maybe that could be "take cover". It just seems to make sense to me. If we could disappear from radar we could fulfill our purpose in the galaxy as snipers. We're useless as snipers as things stand right now on PvP. What do you all think??

The rangers have been wanting this for awhile and the short answer from the devs is "No" and if you want the long answer check the ranger fourms stickies.

how about a /nosuck ability... so it doesnt suck to be in pvp with a rifle, ya know, like a 2.5 or 3.0x modifier with some bonuses to point blank.... that would be sweet

I PvP frequently with Rifleman and think it is one of the better PvP professions out there.

We will never be allowed to disappear from Radar...that's already been established. One possibility was potentially rendering Rifleman unattackable until they opened fire or gave up their position..something like an advanced gTef. This however, what only a suggestion and I doubt will ever see it.

Rifleman is handicapped to a degree in PvP, but honestly, it's all about balance. Pound for pound, we are the best ranged template out there, and the least broken. There are many solutions to our bad defenses though, the simplest being to take on a melee' profession or go Doctor to cure states on yourself.

Point is, Rifleman works in PvP...it just takes time to learn how to use it effectively.

Don't get me wrong I love being a Rifleman I was saying I wish there was a more covert side to him. An ability where we were playing a more sniper-like role during PvP. Or maybe Im just not using my character right. Alot of people say they are successful in PvP with their rifleman, Maybe i just need more experience with it.

Well, if you post your template here, myself and a few of the other Riflemen on the boards could probably help you out.

If we are being picky a Rifleman (The name stemming from the Napoleonic war) isnt a sniper hes just more accurate than the man next to him.

Take cover gives you a bonus to ranged defence (alot by the looks of it) the problem is MOB AI (& players) will always close range with the prone guy.
