Thread: What I would like to see happened to Rifleman when the CU comes.

First off I believe that as a rifleman we serve two roles: expert marksman and heavy gunner. I think that after the CU ranged professions should get their firing range extended. Rifles should be from 150-100m to be the most accurate, while carbineer and pistoleer are better up close. I would like to see the ability to make fortified positions where riflemen could act as gunners and fire rapidly to suppress the enemy while theother profsgo up the melee and opposing squad and take them out. I believe that the t-21 should be the designated sniping weapon, since it is very big, to fire accurately you would need to be prone or kneeling. It should be slow, but very very powerful as it isa sniper rifle. Headshot 3 should be a sniping ability only to be able to be done at far rangeswhile prone/kneeling for best accuracy. The jawa ion rifleshould be good against droids, thereI said it.The DXR-6b and the laser rifle should bethemachine gun types, these would be limited to strafes and random ham shots, like flushing shot andflurry shot but they shoulddo them quickly, a run and gun sort of weapon, it should have reasonable accuracy and pretty good damage. Thats my opinion though. Rifleman should play a sniper/supportrole on the battle field flushingother snipers out of their positions. And, incorporate actual sniping in the game.Allow access to roof tops and such as sniper nests. Thats all I have to say, I'd like to see what you guys think.

yeah, it is definately fun as it is now, but should someone be able to hit someones head repeatedly wearing heavy armor and holding a huge f-ing rifle? That just kinda bugs me.

The T21 is a machine gun. NOT a sniper rifle. It's modern equivelent is the SAW. Look at when you see it in the movies. You can see that it is a squad support weapon (LMG) and NOT a sniper rifle. Also the background info on it shows this.

The DXR-6b is a disintegrator and more of a 'sniper' like weapon.

There can not be true sniping in the game. The hallmark of the snper is shown by their motto. 'One Shot One Kill'. That will never happen in SWG. Also the HeadShot is no different from any other pool targeting attack. The only difference is in PvP because of the different buff systems and the lack of healing of Mind presently.

Riflemen are Infantry. They are the mainstay of battle. Not a support role. Rifles are Infantry with some Sniper like abilities. Just as they have some Gunner like abilities.

Id like to see rifleman balanced.

Actually the DXR series are short range disintegrators :/

But agreed the T-21's a LSW, The jawa needs a redesign to actually look the the Ions in the movie & The Tusken is so a sniper rifle.

Waste, I've been curious... The dev'ssay we are infanty with some sniper & gunner, and I'm ok with that. What archtype is the carbineer based on?

SWAT teams would be the closest thing to them.

Assault troops. SWAT teams are a good example. So are SeAL teams. If you know WWII history than the Soviet Guard units would be another example. From SW a good example is the opening scene of ANH. The StormTroopers breaching the Corvette and assaulting into the ship were Carbineers (Assault Troops).

T-21 Light Repeating Blaster Info
Just in case the clicky does not work: http://www.alaska.net/~rockwell/starwars/starwars/lightrepblaster.html

I know we are not allowed to se the design documents for what the DEV's was to make our role after the CU. And that anyone that have seen the documents can not talk about them. However could you ask the Devs to make a short description what they was se our role as and then make it public... a list of all the professions and thair role in combat (PvE and PvP) could be a nice Friday feature. It would end a lot of speculations and requests for making the professions something the dev do not was to se them as.

Also on sniping. The main reason we will never be able to be snipers in PvP is quite simple... It is not fun to be the victim of a sniper. And fun is the purpose of a game right?
However, there is no reason why we should not be able to snipe NPC's with a "one shot, one kill" function at some point.

The reason for no 'One Shot One Kill' even on NPCs is loot items. Can you imagine the outcry the first time a Rifleman 'sniped' a NS Elder for example?

Making Rifles actual Snipers is one of the quickest ways to make them the most powerful profession in the game combat wise. A Sniper is the single most cost effective soldier on the battlefield. The casualty rate in combat is usually measured in terms of tons. For a sniper it's about 1.5 rounds per confirmed kill.

/agree. We will NEVER get a one shot one kill option. We will also NEVER get an extended range. The Devs clearly stated a long time ago this "fine combat engine" can't handle anything over 64 meters.

Oh, unless you're a combat medic.............then 90 meters was cool........lol.
