Well I haven't gotten much into PvP and have made my rifleman mostly a PvE guy with high powered weaponry and such with little spices. I won't to know some of the tricks of the trade you have picked up and have found to work for you. Just need a basic idea like enemy class you faced say a TKA a pikeman or pistoleer or another rifleman. Also what weapons and special abilities work for you that are within the rifleman ability lists.

Well... dont spam headshot3. use other attacks like flushingshot and strafeshot. strafeshot does a crazy amount of damage to large groups (and if your on the run strafeshot2 can keep them off their bikes) headshot3 is nice if your facing a one-on-one melee or ranged. If you have a good T-21 and are speed capped you can take someone in full composite in under 10 hits. Also... use the weapon fit for the situation. use a dxr for long range, and T-21while not moving. dxr is really the best whenyour on the run.really dont use my jawa anymore because people have 90% stun protection witha psg. Also... if you dont have some good dots, get them. I use a 256 mind fire bowcaster and a 210 tick health poison. I use these when im not the center of attention and can get a few free shots off.

When facing a rifleman that knows what their doing, my tactic is just to outdamage them. I use my 750 max t-21 to take 'em apart. Pistoleers.... I really dont worry. torso shot is the only thing that hurts me, and one fire blanket can cure 5 torso shots.

My 2cents, using this tactic i still get ganked 3-4 times a day, but I dont mind

Well I'm hardly an expert but here's my two pennies:

I open up with MindShot1 and MindShot2 to get the bleed ticking. FlushingShot2 to apply the stun state and then, if up against a melee profession, I use FlurryShot followed by Suppression Fire to land the PD. From there it's a case of HS3 all the way.

Obviously I tailor my approach depending on the opponent but given the limited amount of PvP experience I have, I would say the DXR is good for landing the states whilst on the run and if you do manage to get the PD/Dizzy to stick, the T21 is my weapon of choice for HS3.

However I'm still very new to all this and I've only had a few duels but I've done pretty well so far. Up against defence stackers is a different kettle of fish tho! Anybody got any experience of these?

Scratch that I always open with flushing shot for the stun, but in the end, as much as you hate admitting it, it's all about spamming hs3

well what you NEED to do is spam flurry2 and get people dizzy, that way they cant burstrun, then burstrun around them picking them off one by one with headshot3, a good weapon to spam flurry2 with in the beginning would be a DOT weapon..(I myself use a tusken rifle with 282 health fire so they need to waste a round healing )

I use a 250 tick mind poison to start my target. I pull out my DXR, and land a dizzy. I get a flushingshot to lower their defenses, then yea... I spam HS2 and Mindshot2.

PvPing as a rifleman. Okay.

First - speedcap. That's a given, right? Good. Speedcap with good weapons and you deal more damage in PvP than anyone outside of Jedi.

Templates. I'm a pretty big advocate of the Rifleman/Melee Profession/Pistoleer 0040 build. There's a few reasons.

--The defenses gained by this build solve what struck me as the "biggest" problem for Riflemen - staying on your feet. If you can stay on your feet, and it isn't a jedi, you can destroy it. Its especially effective with Fencer, where you get 90 def vs dizzy, and 100 def vs Posture Change/Def vs KD. However, other options work well too...TKM gives you 55 dizzy, 80 posture change, 70 KD, Swordsman gives you 70 Dizzy, 75 KD, 60 Posture Change, and Pikeman caps your block as well as giving you 70 KD, 90 Dizzy, and 80 Posture Change.

--It gives you another option against jedi. Unfortunately, "Let the melee stackers tank them" doesn't work all that well, since the Jedi can easily move away from them at high speed, and riflemen are soft, easy targets...they'll take you out first, if nothing but to keep you from ravaging the rest of their group.

However, Rifleman/Master Doctor is never bad, nor is Rifleman/Master CM. Another possibility is Master Rifleman/CM 4004/Doc 4030...this gives you the "best of both worlds", in a way. You can throw Single Poison C's (as long as they're experimented down on CM Med use a bit), heal your own dots and states, and of course, blast away at your foes with a rifle.

Weapons. Well, my weapon of choice is a 596 max (with powerup) Jawa Ion Rifle. However, I also have a T21 that's about 850 max with powerup (krayted) and a DXR6 that's 431-1179 with a powerup (exceptional). The Jawa gets used the most by FAR. With it, I drop almost anything that isn't a jedi inside of 30 seconds. That Exceptional DXR6 is my "Jedi Killer". Sure they block one in five shots on average...but sometimes they'll miss multiple shots in a row, and I can hit for some pretty nasty damage when they do. My count of Jedi I've incapacitated with that DXR6 of mine is up to 7 or 8.

Tactics? Depends on your template. In general, its all the same though...hang back and use your heavy firepower to pick off targets one by one. Throwing a few riflemen in with a group of melee fighters can tip the balance back your way against superior numerical odds...the stackers and such will get in people's faces, and then you can pound them into the ground.

Jedi are sort of the "Anti-Rifleman" and, in my opinion, responsible for a drop in the population of PvP riflemen (at least on Lowca). Lets face it - Rifles have a lot of firepower, but they get mauled pretty badly by melee types who get in close enough. This is true even with the build I've got, Master Rifleman/Master Fencer/Pistoleer 0040/Medic 0140. HOWEVER...as I aluded to above, riflemen can beat the stuffings out of Jedi. Keep in mind that you're not going to do it alone...in every case, I've been chasing fleeing Jedi, or have had other people keeping them out at range a bit for me.But if you get in a case like this, don't feel useless....switch to your highest damage weapon and start spamming strafe2!

Lastly, DOT rifles. I personally don't approve of dots as a rifleman. However, that's just because my weapons are really good and so I do not need them. There are times when they can be handy though. Just for example, if you have a jedi swimming who's still in range of your weapons, stick a mind poison to him....that'll make him think about coming out, as he can't heal it while in the water. And if he doesn't come out, you can just let it tick his mind down, and then start spamming headshot3. He'll block your shots, but one of 'em will get through sooner or later...then its lights out.

Hrm...okay, there's my 2 cents.

Torael said pretty much everything that I would have said. His advice is good, and should be taken to heart. A Rifleman can be defense-stacked just like any melee' profession, however, it comes at the cost have having a Master level melee' profession to stick to. I like having dual-mastery, because if I have to switch to close fighting, I'm not using a half-cocked melee' fighting style. That however, is how I prefer to fight, and to each their own.

Some other points of reinforcement:

- Quality Doctors buffs, preferably in a medical center so that they'll be higher than normal.

- Musician/dancer buffs. Riflemen rely on their minds, and with entertainer buffs, your life is going to be a lot easier.

- A good set of 80% base or higher (preferably higher) armor with at least 32% Stun protection. The helmet and chest are the most important pieces, so if you buy piecemeal, try to get the highest possible numbers for those two pieces.

- Personal Shield Generators. Some people say these are a waste. I'm not one of those people. I always bring one along, and have yet to regret the decision.

- Food Management. Always watch your stomach. Keep your Brandy, Ahrisa, and Canape going strong. And don't forget the Synthsteak. Synthsteak, IMO, is pivotal to PvP. That damage reduction can make all the difference. Air Cake, Snow Cake, and some of the other "Vs. States" foods should be in your pack as well.

There is more to PvP, but these are just some pointers to supplement the above advice.

I find that on Starsider, the hardcore folks have heavy stun resist armor now (making jawa ions useless) and the melee people will dodge the T21 like no other. I'm gonna give the DX a shot next, but looking for a good one, as right now the one I have isn't quite on par with my T21 (beyond the awesome accuracy). My template allows me to dodge melee folks like crazy, but damaging them is another thing all together. I just end up with this state where I can stun and drop stance on them for a while to gain range, but never actually hurt them. We'll see how the DX does. Damn melee folks dodge everything these days.

When I was RM the only time i Ever used a T21 was when i was killing a ATSt, and forgot to change weapon Against someone with 80%+base 40% stun and a PSG, t21 does almost nothing, I used the Tenloss ALL the time.

yeah, the tenloss worked nicely last night, eats thru PSGs and folks with all that stun armor.....and nice accuracy, still not as much damage as I'd like though, looking for better ones....
