I was grouped last night on endor, we were doing well because we were keeping the creatures at a distance, i was using warning shot and threatan. Some one else said he was using supression fire. I thought that suppresion fire worked only on NPC characters not mobs and raised the npc's posture, and that WS and threaten only worked on creatures?

no before the patch on 9/4 it worked great on both it makes them kneel and a second shot if they were still kneeling made them prone. However after this patch surpression fire know makes them immune for 30 secs to the changing effects of the shot so once it hits them the yare immune to the effects of posture change from that shot for 30 secs. makeing crowd control almost impossible now.

nope...suppression works on anything, npc or monster. for me, it seems to work better than WS. u have to use peace with WS and that is a pain....with Suppression, i doesnt cost alot of HAM and it stops the mob...giving you time to run if needed or spam it and keep them pinned. works great

It works on anything, it's just that only NPC mobs have a kneeling animation. If you look at the target HAM window in the upper right, it'll show them kneeling after you shoot them.

There is some confusion here over the purpose of the shots. Suppression forces a posture change, but in the opposite direction. Suppression forces them down if they are up. It is StartleShot that forces them up if they are down.

I have not got StartleShot yet, but I have used SuppressionShot. It will stop both NPCs and critters by forcing the posture change. I suspect that StartleShot would not stop them, because if they are down they are already not moving, but both of these shots can be used in conjunction with FlurryShot, which makes the target dizzy. I do not have this shot yet either, but posts I have read suggest hitting them with FlurryShot to make them dizzy, then hitting them with a posture change shot because dizzy makes them fall down when they do a posture change.

One warning, however, the latest patch apparently puts a 30 second timer on knockdown and posture changes. Thus, where as you could keepa target immobile by continuing to hit it with SuppressionShot before, you will only be able to do this once every 30 seconds now.
