Thread: About HAM costs....
....we now have an good work around. Last night I had a Master musician buff my secondary stats ( both Willpower and Focus ) for double their value. The buff was still going strong up to logout ( I logged about an hour and 45min after getting it ). I'm a Wookiee with a 990 mindpool, Will - 600, Focus - 650. I was able to continually hammer away with Strafeshot2, Flurryshot2, etc, etc, from a T21 and my mindpool bar barely nudged. I was hunting Gurrecks on Endor.
The problem - Die once, and the buff is gone. So I wont say this completely solves our HAM cost situation, far from it;but if your careful, and have a decent tank with you, it can make solo hunting a very sweet experience.
I agree that these buffs are superb, however here are a couple of "gotchas":
Many of the Master M/D's dont hang out at the cantinas anymore. Finding them isn't always a sure thing. Same with Master Doctor for HA buffs. I have yet to find both on the same night without actually travelling to a major city.
Also... Twice after dying, I tried to get new buffs, and sat in front of a Master M/D for 5-10 minutes. The buffs kept failing (no change to mind bars).I also failed buffing by two Master Doctors one time.I tried quitting the game and restarting, butnew buffsstill failed. The Doctors both told me that I was shown as already having buffs even though my stats showed normal. Fortunately one of them told me to try rebooting my computer to clear out any cached files. So far, this appears to solve the problem. So if you die with special buffs, it may not be a bad idea to reboot your PC before sitting in front ofa musician for 5 or more mins.
Yes, Wayne just brought up some excellent points. Keep his tips in mind if your following the proper steps and still keeping coming up with failures and the mind buff just isnt happening.
To that end, a few tips if the musician buff is new to you...
You need to actually ask the musician to buff you, as they can then directtheir performanceat you. Only one player can be buffed at a time in that manner. Start listening to the musician, when the buff starts, you'll get a message stating "Musician_X * directs their performance at you" ( * whatever the musicians name might be ). At that point sitand enjoy the tunesfor about 5min ( I usually wait about 6 just to be safe ); after that time period click on the performer and choose the Stop Listening option. If you now check your stats, you should see the secondary mind stats doubled; enjoy your new freedom for the next 2 hours.![]()
And even more hints and tips... ![]()
-- Just to make sure it is clear, you will NOT see any change to your Mind bars UNTIL you STOP listening or watching. First time I buffed I sat there 20 mins before I remembered that! Doh!
-- Master Dancers enhance ONLY the top (main) Mind bar.
-- Master Musicians enhance ONLY the two secondary mind bars.
-- So a full set of buffs require both performers.
My mind bars all exactly doubled and stayed that way until I died 1 hr, 40 mins later.
