Thread: Masking scent vs. conceal shot
Unless someone can give me a LOGICAL reason why we shouldn't be able to remain concealed when using conceal shot?
aware that it just got hit by something yes.....automatically no exactly where you are and be able to alert everyone else in the area....not likely.
If you're hidden that well and shoot a silent shot from cover...why the hell should every creature in the area jump on you like ants ata picnic?
Nah, left rifleman long ago.....stupid screwed up class if you asked me.....to many dumb things, like this for example.
Really! Wow! Could have fooled me since every mob I attacked today was from between 60 and 64 meters and EVERY time I got the BAF attack on me.

I believe you are right Rossi. This has got to be an oversight by the devs. Conceal shot should be the exception to losing mask scent when in combat. According to definition, conceal shot, if successful, means that you have hit your target withoutthe targetknowing where the shot came from.
There is no logical reason why you cannot be masked while concealing shots and I think this should be fixed.
In the meantime, other tactics I've triedmay work. Since rangers now know when they are being stalked, you can /peace when this happens, then mask scent, wait a few seconds, then start back up with the conceal shots, until they "find" you again...rinse...repeat.
Anyone know the proper channel to make a request for this fix?

Mask scent versus conceal shot is a moot point. The description in game says:
/concealshot <target>: This ranged sneak attack, if successful, will damage your target without them knowing where the attack came from.
We know from experience that it really means:
/concealshot <target>: This ranged sneak attack, if successful, will damage your target without them knowing where the attack came from (while everything around them comes to beat you down whether you are /concealed or /maskscented or not). Enjoy!

yeah, that's not what they're talking about, aggro creatures (red on the map) won't attack you unless you get within 40 meters, pack assist still works from as long a range as you care to try to shoot the thing, only thing that matters for pack assist is how far the creatures are from EACH OTHER.
and yes it is stupid, pack assist is my NUMBER ONE, WITHOUT A DOUBT complaint about riflemen. with my ch/pistoleer I could give a crap, but for my ranger/rifleman who's shtick is not getting seen, well it's a major bummer. sucks to be me, I picked a character concept which is totaly broken, or was never intended to work at all. how silly of me to think a sniper with an ability called "concealshot" could, you know, snipe.
I could see making maskscent breakable in combat IF conceal shot actually concealed, but having every mob around target you as soon as you use it (except, of course, your initial hapless target) is silly.
We need conceal shot fixed.
