yes it does work, i remeber when i was in a duel and prone( he was nice enough to duel me from 64m) i got knocked down lol

yep same thing happened to me, that was the stupidest thing i eveer saw, how can u get KD when you're prone, oh well i lost that duel anyways, BH with eye shot, haha that's all he did after that.

You can KO people that are prone with rifle as well, hit with flurry and then flushing to force the posture change, if all goes well you get a knock down.
