Thread: Trying to master I have faith, but am struggling.

Hello Everyone! I've posted several questions about how I should go about mastering rifle. I have a lot of faith in the rifle, but am struggling with getting exp. I currently hunt in groups, and get maybe 40k exp in an hour. I've got a T-21, Jawa ion, and spraystick.

I am currently master TKA, with lvl IV pharmacology (Stim D's). My rifle is 2-1-1-2. I want to master rifle, without droping TKA. I have enough skill points to do this, but it means that I would prefer not to go up the CH tree.

For those who have mastered, what should I do to speed things up? Can someone just tell me "Do X and Y on planet Z with such and such a weapon, ect"

Thanks,

GR

Hi there GR, good to meet you.

You asked fora pure-and-simple path to success. Get good friends with a CH or two (great tanks that don't soak up your xp), get a non-CH pet yourself, get a laser rifle with as good a speed/damage ratio as possible (personal choice - T21 only really came into its own for me at master), max all 3 mind stats, get addicted to muon gold, go up countersniping and special abilities now to get the area attacks, and go hunt the hell out of pikets on Dantooine.

You should alsofind that the xp rockets up, the higher up you get - I got my last 5 skillboxes in about a day or so, and I wasn't using muon gold. It'd be an idea to hotkey a suit of ubese for when they get into range, too, and fall back on your TKA skills. Other than that, your template sounds very similar to mine, so hopefully what worked for me should work for you! I guarantee, though, that once you get countersniping 3 you won't look back. 2-3k damage to every aggro in your firing cone, every 2-3 seconds, is a beautiful thing indeed. At master, I outdamage the rest of my group combined in pvp, including a master commando and 2 bounty hunters (I discovered muon gold now, hehe) - it's well worth working for!

Good luck, and I'd love to hear both how this works for you, and from those who disagree - this worked for me, but there may have been fundamentally blatant things that I was overlooking...

I'm not sure if its still possible but on rori, a long ways back, i would get two leviasquall missions east of restuss. as close as i could to eachother. would usually take bout 5-10 min to do but well worth it. when doing the missions kill all the leviasqualls (which you can kite very easily) and tap the lair till its empty. once its empty move onto the other mission. do not and i repeat DO NOT destroy the lair. just do the other mission the same way and head back. the lair will respawn and within 20-30 min you just made about 40-50k xp. they respawn indefinately so you can do this as many times as you want. if you have scouting they drop good bristley hide. this is the main thing that got me up the skill tree. once i got to 4114 my last 6 boxes went by extremely fast and i went onto dantooine for kunga missions =) which to me are the best thing you can do in the game for xp and money.

on a side note: even though im Master CH, i went ch after i mastered rifleman. doing the kunga missions i found it easier if i sent a pet in while i spammed ss2 in there. i mastered CH in a week doing this and pocketed 4mill creds. this was about 3 weeks ago.

another side note: Kunga missions are great for money =)

Aye, good point, Saladin - Kungas are insanely profitable. I forgot to mention them as I don't do them myself (RP ethical reasons, heh), but great xp and great cash, even with the powerful group you need to finish 'em.

Tortons and torturs used to be great for xp, too, but unfortunately they are all social mobs now - same is true of many types of bantha, too, I hear. Though I've only been to Tattooine once or twice, and still can't spell it with any certainty. That might be slightly off-topic, though...

But I think (if I read between the lines correctly, and forgive me if I haven't) that Saladin's point about the last 6 boxes flying past definitely echoes mine- those AoE attacks, together with the speed you get at Spec 4, are just devestating!

Several points based on previous posts in this thread:

-- I don't see a problem with 40,000 XP an hour. Why don't you just petition the devs to skip the XP and the learning and just make you a master rifleman today. We certainly wouldn't want you to have to WORK for it. You probably stand in front of the microwave going "Hurry! Hurry!"

-- Also, lairs no longer spawn infinitely. After 2 or three spawns without getting hit they simply disappear. The best thing to do is kill original spawn, move away 160m, kill respawn, move away 160m, kill lair.

-- Last, a question: How do you get Kunga missions?? I am master rifleman and they don't show up on the mission terms on Dantooine. Highest I see are 10K Piket missions.

Hi Wayne,

- 40k xp an hour seems pretty reasonable, but there are ways to get more. I'm sure GR has their reasons for wanting to progress more quickly than theyare at the moment, and it's not for me or you to judge these without knowing them. In my experience, Rifleman became more and more fun the higher up I got - more tactical options, able to go after more powerful and more dangerous mobs, and able to compete in PvP, etc. I'm asking you politely to respect how GR wishes to play the game -making Master Rifleman is a hell of an achievement no matter how you do it, and neither GR's playstyle nor their route to Master adversely affect youor your own achievement.

(Apols in if I took the microwave comment at face value if it was meant ironically :smileytongue

- True, lairs no longer respawn creatures infinitely if you're in range - limited to 3 waves. However, I've noticed several times that a lair has respawned completely (ie, is in perfect health and has 3 waves of mobs) if I've been led away from it chasing some of the original waves, for example. Maybe someone else can document this more accurately?

- Kunga missions will pop up if you group with a few other high-level characters and a pet or two - they net approximately 30-40k credits a pop, from what I remember, though as I noted above I've not done any myself. From the wounds I've seen in the Mining Outpost on Bria, though, I'd say they hit pretty hard, hehe.

Bored at work, hehe.

I mastered Rifleman this weekend, it's a night & day difference. Hang in there, it's completely worth it, I use a 7.6 speed T21, and my combat window is completely spammed when I go into a fight.

Best advice for XP is to get to Exper Countersniping as fast as possible, Flushing2 is an awesome AE, and its' multiplier is high enough that you'll even use it on singles. Also the fastest XP period is grouping, it's chaotic yes, people are annoying at times, yes, but if you really want the fast XP, it's the best route to go.

Migrate your focus, willpower & mind to max, you'll be burning through it pretty fast unless you want to be spice dependant, or have a regular dancer/musician that'll buff you. Prior to getting to master, I'd almost suggest focusing more on HAM costs on weapons than on damages, before master I pretty much used all specials in fights solo, now I often just sit back & just auto attack.

If you are rebel there is an NPC base Rebel Vs Imps static battle on Corellia at 4000 -1200.

It is a rebel base that constantly spawns rebel NPCs and Turrents which defend off a CONSTANT incoming wave of Stormtroopers and usually 1 AT-ST. The at-st will leave you alone if you leave it alone, assuming it has a constant supply of Rebels to shoot at. I found that it got stuck on the building a lot tring to attack a rebel on the other side of the wall. Anyway, once you get the pattern down you can stay out there for hours. I was earning about 70k XP and hour along about 300-400 faction points as a perk.

I went out there the first time about a week ago, level 2/1/1/1 and now I'm 3/4/4/4. And that was with spending about 3 hours a day out there. Take some muon gold with you "lots of it" When the STs come in, let a rebel fire at it first until your abilities get higher, this will keep them occupied and you can just assist while the ST is busy with the rebel. 3000-4000 XP each kill. Little less as you get higher. I had one low level pet to help out just in case an ST tried to fire directly at me. The, NPCs usually stop attacking you personally if you send a pet after them.

Anyone know of any other places like this on a different planet?

If you have at least flush2 or flurry 2

I would Highly recommend hunting on endor for roba's (2-3k xp each) and gurrecks/Crazed gurrecks (3-5k xp each) with 3-6 at a lair, do themath. It requires a CH thats pretty good with crowdcontrol. If your in the route of pain , you could always try bloodskeer mites (ar1 Zero Cold Res)

Equip that jawa and let flush2 fly hell, even flurry2. Gurreck's have zero stun resistance, and stun damage doesn't hurt the lair , which stops the one from warping 60m on to your head.

Now I'm often out Hunting by myself, so I grabbed CH a long time ago , Since I no longer am It is quite usefull to group when you can , dant or dath its all good,

Just remember to use examine for resistances

If you don't have an AOE attack, Tattered or Shallow Torton's on Rori, h3ll even nudfuh's for some fun

Good advice has been posted. Now, try mastering rifleman with no stims, no pets, and no T21

I was able to do it, but now look back and ask myself how the hell it was done.

Bah, hit enter sorry. I did the majority (prob 90%) of my post-novice leveling on Lok, killing flits>spined snakes>perleks>snorbals, in that order.

However, snorbals were much easier, and more plentiful to kill back in July when I was doing this. They couldn't climb hills for their lives, and snorbal missions were available.

Just be patient, and the exp and boxes filled will come with time.

I struggled and struggled, cause lets face it EVERYTHING you shoot at charges and when it does the rifleman goes in the trash can. Which is why we should be returned to a more one shot one skill sniper class, but until that happens the ONLY awnser i see is PETS. it took me WEEKs to get 2 rifle skills, i picked up CH and one skill and got a GSP and have leveled 4 skills in roughly 9 days. Now i'm starting to work on some level 3 stuff and am lovong the career.

You dont want to go up the CH tree, I would rethink that or rethink rifleman.
