Thread: How to deal with the huge mind pools?

I've been a rifleman since beta, always wanted to be and became master a couple months after launch. Now recently I took a 2 month or so hiatus from the game, and have come back to all my enemies having huge mind pools thanks to enhanced dancer buffing and all the new BE enhanced chef food.

I'm a Zabrak with 1000/500/900 mind, though raise it to around 3000/2000/3000 with food/spice/powerboost/entertainer(-500 to 600 though forarmor) have as low mind cost weapons I can get (with lots of damage though, I can't live without high damage :smileyvery-happy so I shouldn't be chewing through my mind as much as I am.

Recently there's been a couple times where I've faced an opponent and I simply couldn't get their mind to fall fast enough. I'm doing good damage, using best weapon for the situation, using the proper specials etc (I've been PvPing since forever, it's all I've done for the last 6 months, so I can't think of anything I'm doing wrong strategy wise). I mean, I am slowly taking down there mind, but it could literally take 5 minutes for me to take them down, in which time I've drained my mind to hell already.

So are there any tricks to the trade that I'm missing or something? Any nice things I can add from certain professions to help me be more efficient in PvP (other then getting CM)? Right now my template is Master Rifleman, TKA 2 1 0 3, Doctor 4 0 0 0 (or soon to be, very soon).

The only thing that comes to mind is that maybe you didn't know about the increasing popularity of Stun-protection armor. If you typically use a Jawa Ion rifle, be aware that Weaponsmiths Armorsmiths are now cranking out armor with Stun-protection layers that can get up to (help me out here everyone) 45% ??
So people you used to own firing HS3 with the Jawa Ion now will be much tougher to kill.

Thanks, know about that too though, I barely wear any armor that doesn't have 20% or more stun protection

Infact most of the time I start out with my Laser Rifle and if I notice that's not doing as much damage as it should I'll switch to my Jawa, because often times even if someone only have a small % stun resistant armor my Laser's extra damage makes up for it.

Maybe I'm just not back into the swing of things yet.

I like to throw folks offin other ways - their huge mind is only huge cause they haven't had to use it yet. Stun and intimidate if you can to reduce defenses. Mindshot2 and mindshot1 if you can (they're still stacking). Use any health andaction bleeds you have as well as any and all poisons, diseases, andfires that you have. Then kite and use strafe2 for a little bit. They'll stim to get rid of damage if they can which will reduce their mind, which you've already got ticking with 2 bleeds and hopefully a poison or two. After their mind starts to go a little white, hit it hard with your jawa, dxr6 or T21.

I was also going to mention that I don't think a laser has much of a place in PVP. The armor piercing with the energy damage type make it not an incredibly viable gun. If you're doing energy damage, a T21 should always be better. If they have a psg on and stun-layered armor, psg's are vulnerable to acid so use that. If they have no psg, then you'll have to see whatever hits harder, your jawa or your T21.

Last I hear AP was still not working in PvP, but most importantly a Laser Rifle is medium AP and a T21 is heavy AP, while composite armor is only Light, so both go right through it.

Nevertheless, Ranged Damage Mitigation absolutely murders the Laser Rifle, and in my opinion there is absolutely no reason to use it in PvP.

As far as dealing with large mind pools, use Foods and Drink to get your focus up to and over 1500, and you wont lose your mind to your own shooting at all

The only problem I have with huge mind pools and using HS3 is that as far as I am concerned .... AP2/AP3 don't show up in pvp. I have a pretty nasty T21, (close to) 200-700 (thats sliced and pup'ed). Now using that with AP3 vs Comp armor of 60-70% energy resist. I don't care.. AP3 should tear up that armor, beats it by 2 levels. Then maybe pvp wouldn't rely on stun damage alone. Which has ruined pvp... everybody is a rifle/fencer cause of it.... /kneel, thank you combat revamp....bout time pvp got REAL

See this is why CM's rule PVP it has nothing to do with their power.

I'm a Master Weaponsmith now(I specialize in Rifles) out of the 8 rifles I can make only two have any real value in PVP(Jawa & T-21). Now even the Jawa is starting to become a worthless weapon(thank you 40% + Stun protection).

Armor is way too powerful, 1 suit should not be 80% effective verse 7 damage types and 40% effective verse the last damge type. Hell weaponsmiths have been nerfed to hell really if you think about it, most of the weapons we can make are pathetic when compared to just one suit of armor.

How come I'm forced to use1 predetermined damage type for my weapons, when an armorsmith can have 8 diffrent damage types protected on their 1 suit of armor? Does that make sense?

Everyone should just become a dammed CM/Doctor with 4-0-0-4 Marksmen! That would make armor worthless just like player crafted weapons really are!

CM's are like nukes. You have them just incase you need them, but as soon as you start using yours the other guys start using theirs and everything goes to hell-PyschoticChipmunk -The First line of the Riflenomican.

unfortunitly, thats now how armor piercing works. You simply gain a 25% bonus for each AR thats over the enemys. For instance a T-21 will gain a 50% bonus in someone in composite, or a 75% bonus with someone without armor at all. However, the resists that are listed on the armor ALWAYS apply, no matter the situation.

Now that you know the bonuses the negatives for using a weapon with reduced AP are 50% per AP. which means a AP 0 weapon vs a heavy armor mob like a nightsister elder is 150% reduced damage.
