Thread: A few questions from a Rifle Newbie

Just started out on Rifleman, and am currently 1-1-0-0, almost at 1101. Just had a few questions that are bothering me about some things


First - Conceal shot. Do you have to be 'Under cover' for it to work eg DoI have to use the 'Take Cover' special first? Or as long as Im a certain distance away the mob won't notice? Also is Masked Scent essential for Conceal Shot or can I do without it?


2) If Conceal shot can be used with out using Take Cover - what is the Take cover special good for? Anything?


3)Can I use Acid & Heat Rifles as well (Berzerker & DX6b) and what level of the Rifle treeare they certed at?


4) As a Master Droid Engineer/Master Artisan Im often invited to go along to the Death Watch Bunker. What do you think would be the best rifle to take? Should I stick with my speed sliced, poweruped (speed again) T-21 or gobuy a nice DX6b for acid damage against the Super Battle Droids (I think they have low resists to Acid but Heavy Armor).


5) What do you thing will be the best XP earner for me at my current level?. I usually use6k HAM droids with autorepair Modules to tank for me, but don't usually go hunting with buffs apart from Brandy & 3 Shots ofAshaiti (sp?), this gives me 2k of Focus and lets mespam specials to my hearts content

I have some good Comp that I use for speical occasions (Death Watch usually) but when grinding usually go unarmored.

Any suggestions what is the best thing to hunt?

ConcealShot will work regardless of TakeCaover, position, or MaskedScent. However it's best to be prone and using /Aim when using ConcealShot at first. If you miss 2-3 times you will be detected.


Also watch out for the 1 point bleed that ConcealShot sometimes causes. When the bleed "ticks" you will be detected.

It supposedly increases your defenses vs ranged attacks

Berserker Rifle - Rifle Special Abilities III

DXR-6b - Counter-Sniping II

Check to see what the target is weak against. You will want a variety of rifles. T21 for heavy AP, DXR-6b for the acid damage, and maybe a Jawa for it's stun damage.

You would want something that you can take down but preferably that uses ranged attacks. Savage Quenkers are popular for this as HeadShots work on them well. Also since you use a pet tank you may want to go up to Counter-Sniping III first for the AoE attack. Then it should speed up.

Your questions have all been answered really well in the above. Just once quickpoint thats worth noting. If you peace out after 3 concealshots, you will be able to continue with 3 more concealshots without the mob going agro in most cases. They will only agro if it inflicts a bleed, which during my RM grind, rarely happened.

As Opiam stated. Using /Peace will reset the number of misses you are allowed. I would recommend using /Peace after the second miss at most.


Also some people have set up a macro for ConcealShot. It's /concealshot;/concealshot;/peace. That will also work. You can even throw in some /aim in there if you want to also.
