Thread: It would be cool if they made the T21 a light machine gun.

Like it's supposed to be. I don't really care if it would "unbalance the game" and other whiney crap. That would just be cool to set up my T21 on a tripod and start mowing down some Rebels.
Actually the T-21 isn't supposed to have a tripod. (According to some weapons guide) It's the heaveiest weapon that a single soldier can use, or something like that.
While I agree that it would be cool for it to be automatic, then it would probably need to be made a Commando weapon. Those guys need some real love.

Didn't it have a tripod/bipod in A New Hope where they haul it out to shoot at the Millennium Falcon in the hangar escape scene?
Also any weapon requiring the user to be prone and/or stationary would be about as useful as rifleman cover in PVP.

Any weapon that would require the shooter to be stationary is no longer a small arm. It's a heavy weapon. Which is the Commando's area of weaponry.
The T21 does have a tripod. However it is a small belt mounted tripod.
BlasTech T-21 Light Repeating Blaster
Larger and more powerful than the typical blaster rifle, the BlasTech T-21 Light Repeating Blaster is the largest weapon that can be carried and used by one soldier. Primarily used in large-scale military actions, it provides support for Imperial army and stormtrooper squads as well as cover for artillery gunners. Because it is a portable weapon, it became popular among Rebel factions and is still used by some New Republic units.
At 1.5 meters in length, the T-21 is perfect for soldiers who need to set up a weapon quickly and with minimal fuss. Along with a belt-mounted tripod and a backpack generator (weighing 20 kilograms), the T-21 can be set and ready to go within 30 seconds. Although it can be wielded by a single soldier two-handed, use of the tripod improves its accuracy out to its maximum range of 300 meters.
The T-21 is capable of being powered by a power pack, but it only contains enough energy for 25 shots. However, use of the backpack generator provides near unlimited ammunition, but its firing rate is limited to one shot per second due to the generator's low cooling capacity.
The power behind the T-21's blaster bolts is amazing, being known to penetrate infantry armor, personal forcefields and even armor plating of light combat vehicles.

I thought the role of "machine gunners" was set aside for carbineers.... the combat rebalance will fix that.
Rifleman should be just that - shoot in a rifle style. Carbineers should be the ones who are running around with automatic weapons like rifleman do now *sigh*
Assault Rifle : A rifle that can be selected to fire either semi-automatic or automatic (full or burst). The most common weapon used by militaries.
Carbineers are assault troops. Their weapons are carbines (short rifles) and sub-machine-guns.
If a heavy, tripod-mounted machine gun was ever used it should belong to commandos.
IMO rifleman need to be effective only at rifle range, and their shots should be accurate, yet slow. Just like a sniper or semi-auto long range rifle marksman.
64m range means no snipers. No one shot kills means no snipers. Unable to hide from radar means no snipers. There can not be any snipers nor LONG range riflemanship in this game because there is no long range.
There is no basis for rifles firing slow. They don't. They fire just as fast as carbines and pistols since they all use the same technology. Nor are rifles limited to semi-auto fire. Assault rifles are select fire.
Sorry but if your view is that rifles are only semi-autos then your view must also be that all pistols are six shot revolvers.
