A lot of people have questions about what new things are coming out our how changes will effect Riflemen. So this thread is for all those that have Riflemen on TC and what to share their observations (good or bad) about comming changes.

Please try to keep this thread related to those issues. If you have questions about something posted or concerns/approval please start another thread or send a PM to the poster. The less clutter the more informative it will remain.

Please remember that just because something is on TC does not mean it will make it to Live. TC is for working the bugs out and trying to find and hidden side effects that a change may cause.

Guess I'll start......

Line of Sight (LoS) :Something I'm in favor of in general. It should add a more tactical element to combat. Namely the ability to use terrain for cover when evading and hopefully when approaching targets.

However on TC there are some issues with this. From a number of posts it appears that right now the LoS rules on TC use the point of your feet to determine LoS. This leads to times when you can clearly see the target however because of a small rock or gulley you will get a 'Can not see target' message.

I've also noticed that this is very pronounced on hilly terrain. As being above the target can easily cause the targets feet to be obscured by the angle. Especially when prone. The problem seems to occur less often when you are below the target. Something that would seem to be the opposite of what most people would expect.

Equip/Unequip Delay : There will be a delay when equipping or unequipping weapons or armor. I have noticed it somewhat but as my TC character is low level this hasn't hampered me much yet. Anyone that relies on multiple combat professions will have some problems. This could also have an adverse effect on armor when the new HAM and combat system come out. Since non-Wookiee armor is composed of nine pieces ( I think that is the correct number), it could take a very long time to switch or remove armor and hence change the HAM costs of specials because of encumberance. I think the armor switching will have a much stronger negative effect than weapon switching. Since I think most people will only use one or two weapons during combat against a target.

Once again though, I don't think we will know the full effect of this until the new HAM system and armor/buff changes (if any) that are suppose to be coming take effect.

How about the proposed three second hard speed cap? Would this apply to just rifles, to all ranged weapons, or to all professions? It's really ridiculuos, there's no way it could take three seconds to pull a trigger.

It's just hypothetical.

Currently, there are no other changes affecting us.

I would be oh-so-helpful if they would have visual cues as to when you have LOS and not.

I mentioned a couple of issues in RandonB's post, so I'll give the brief overview here.

Same thing about LOS that you mentioned except the issue where if you have specials queued and the target moves out of sight after you have already hit him with a special, you still get a HAM cost for firing off the special that doesn't hit because you can't see the target (I hope that just made sense), but you get no cost if your first shot can't see the target, so it seems like a bug to get charged for a queued shot.

Also, I like the idea of some kind of indicator to let you know that you can see the target. I'd also like some kind of indicator for the weapon delay. As I mentioned in the other post, you have no idea while in combat if you will actually be switching weapons or if you didn't hit the weapon switch. Your old weapon stays highlighted until the switch. I'd say either add the action to the combat queue or highlight the new weapon but still have some kind of delay before the shot takes place.

I'm still a noob on test but if anyone wants to find me I'm Skel on test as well. I've also joined PvP-I to hopefully help test some pvp. I'm working towards doc/rifle on test.

Equip/Unequip Delay : Did a bit more playing with this. It appears that you have to have the weapon equipped for a certain amount of time. Something like three seconds. So if you've had it equipped for at least three seconds you can switch it out no problem. Still new on TC so have not yet had any experience to see if this also holds true for armor.

This problem with HAM costs has been around for awhile. I've listed it in the bug list. It is in Live. If you have any special qued and for some reason it can't go off (wrong weapon, out of range, etc). You still get charged the HAM costs
