I love being a Rifleman. As a young wookiee Bounty Hunter I learned early on that having no armor suckes when your prey runs up close to you.

After Wook armor came out I switched to Rifle anyway and am picking up MCH as well so I can play the real rifleman and shoot from optimum distance. BTW, I do not do PvP. <I can feel the air rush by as you all gasp... >WHAT? NO PvP<...>

Anyway. I am now 4/3/4/4 Rifle with only about 250K left to go to Master... and I got all the AP I need for the BIG MOMENT.

I go on hunts with friends and unless we are raiding one of the Imp NPC Bases I am always too far away from the fight to get any of the decent loot. It's kind of furstrating and rather depressing that most everybody I have hunted with, fellow guildies and total strangers alike,is on this mad dash to grab all the loot that they can and leave only empty carcasses for me to pick over. I am not a petty person but I play the game for some cool stuff too.

How should I appraoch this with the people I hunt with without soundling like a whining wook?

PS..... (See, This is why I like a game that also caters to the solo hunter as well)

What I would do is right when a high level creature is about to die, stand up and head towards it, so that you will be within 15m (the minimal range for looting), and set up a macro that /loot 's, then spam it.

In Space no one can hear you spam.

What works for me is to hunt with people I know in real life. That way if something I want drops I can ask for it, and if they don't give it to me I can punch them in the back of the head next time I see them .

Another thing I have noticed is it helps to be looking for something specific. I was hunting with a group and mentioned that if any rifle skill tapes or special rifles dropped I would like them. Usually if you are the only rifleman in the group this works out ok and they will give you what drops. Be very specific about which items before you go out and make sure the group agrees with your demands before any loot drops. Mostgroups will agree to allow you dibs on 1 or 2 specific items if it means they get to horde the rest because chances are the ones you want will never drop anyway.

The easiest way is to just take turns looting. Each group member gets an an attempt to loot and so on till its your turn. This used to work good, but now there are a bunch of greedy people around that have the /loot macro running and "forget" to turn it off. Just have a good leader in the group that kicks the people that do this.

Last but not least, you are a rifleman. If punks start disrespecting your loot rights show them what a solo rifleman and a T-21 can do with SS2. Disban from the group and use them as tanks while killing everything and getting all the loot rights (people hate us for doing this). You won't make any friends using the last method, but lets face it, there are certain people you don't want as friends and loot hogs are near the top of the list.

yes i faced same thing tonight, with a krayt, i already had proven to 3 people that i could outdamage them on the first krayt, so anyways i knew the one guy, so he invites me to the group and i didnt mind cuz i sort of know the guy and believe he will share the loot, well anyways we kill some more krayt, his friend loots some tissues and says they are bad, then later on the guy i know leaves, so its just me and the other guy, we kill the krayt, i let the guy loot it, then the message says he looted a pearl, then the next thing i know the guy says "bleh, nothing", then i said you got a pearl, nice try, then the guy goes silent and doesnt talk, and then next thing i see is his auction on the trade forums, lol, so im just mad that i joined the group, lesson learned though

I never had the problem with people in my group stealing loot... not once!

If we go out kraythunting, I say it from the start: loot is shared equally amongst groupmembers.
I have yet to come across one person who did not follow this.

I would suggest grouping with people you know and trust. For right now there isn't much else you can do as you will be further from the kill than most.

Personally I think the loot system needs some changes. So that ninja looting is reduced.

But for now I'd suggest grouping with friends or people you trust.

I agree, the best thing to do is hunt the high lvl mob's with people you know and trust. Also discussing loot beforehand is a good policy. Whenever I go hunting with my guild we always discuss how we will distribute loot, i.e. NS lances, pearls, CA/AA's. We have been doing that since launch and never had a problem

I am lucky enough to hunt witha group of people that I trust implicitly. We share loots on everything we hunt, if someone needs the looted item, they get it. If we can sell it for a lot of cash, we all get a share of it. Your best bet is to find a group of people that you can trust to not steal loot, if your guildmates take loot from you and are not of the sharing type, I'd suggest finding a new guild

I hear ya, loot can be an issue. I have a core crew that I hunt with where it's not an issue, but there are times when you're wandering the graveyard solo and end up hunting with folks you don't know well. I usually approach them with the question, "Do you guys have a set method for looting?" If they don't respond, I usually say, "I'm sorry, it looks like there may be a looting issue, I've got to ungroup." It's a bit coarse, but I haven't run into many that can outdamage me and if they think I can't solo and leave me alone with a krayt thinking the poor riflemen will die if we quit tanking for him, I've got a free krayt. I personally have no problem with sharing loot, either by up-front payout, auction and payout later, or cycling through group members with each person getting the opportunity at looting, but if no method is chosen, I ungroup. A lone, speed-capped riflemen with 700 damage rifles can outdamage most groups. Honestly, if the group you're in doesn't want to approach the issue, it's because they don't want to share. If that's the case, they're not worth grouping withand when you beat them for looting rights, they'll maybe be more willing to have you on their side instead of as the competition.

Does anyone remember the "group auto-loot" thing? I cant reacall using it except for like the month after release. Why isnt it around any more?

I was wondering about this also.

These are all good points and i pretty much echo what everyone else says. I hunt usually with my Guild and we share loot. The person who needs it in the guild gets it. Lots of times even if they arent there. If no one needs it then we sell it or keep it for later.

I've hunted krayts for the past...dunno, 3 months I think. I've basically always been grouped with jedi alts (basically loot whores themselves). I've always let them had pearls (I can get some from juveniles when soloing) and the only thing I demand are tissues. Works out well. Guess you gotta establish rules first. And yes...solo riffleman can basically outdamage alot of other groups if they dont have a riffleman in their mist. I've taught that lesson to alot of ppl...
