Im a new Novice Rifleman who mainly solos.
I got a set of comp and ubese.
Of course Comp totally drains all my stats from all the stat migration im forced to do. Is Ubese the way to go?

Ubese can be sufficient until you start getting into the higher level mobs, then it can get torn up pretty quickly, depending on it's stats. Since you're novice, like me, the ubese should do you fine for awhile, while doing quenkers, huurtons, etc. When you start moving up to the outer rim worlds, then you probably want to don the composite for the better protection.

If you're fully buffed, you shouldn't have a problem with the Composite. However, I like using Ubese for low level mobs for a few reasons:
1. It's cheaper than Composite, so at novice level it's definitely the more appealing choice.
2. A good 70% kinetic Ubese set will still give you good resistance to most of what you'll be fighting at novice level.
3. The lower encumberance generally makes it easier to keep your Mind bar healthy
4. A decent Ubese set will offer good protection against the low level stuff and it will save your Composite armor from unnecessary wear and tear. I personally would rather see a set of Ubese that cost 150k ripped up, than a set of Composite that cost 300k+
And if stats are your problem, you can always look for a set of encumberance sliced Composite. You'll probably still need some type of buff to wear a full set, but it will be a lost less taxing on you. For now though, stick with the Ubese...you should do fine.

Ubese is just fine for most creatures. I still useit when soloing krayts. Just expect to be replacing it when you're done.

Someone made a set of bone armor on my server with 80% energy resist, that's not bad at all for certain scenarios
