Thread: New Rifleman needs advice

I just got Novice Rifleman last night. I managed to pull off the grueling climb from marksman to Novice Rifleman in only 1 and a half buff sets.
Now for my question. At novice, I've found that I don't kill things very quickly at ALL. Pickets take like 5 minutes to kill with a T21. Quenkers and Huurton dont fall too quickly either. Now, I think the problem is that I'm not kiting at all.. I'm just standing there and shooting my ass off at point blank range. Would I hit more or less often if I kited? Getting hit isn't a problem as I'm always buffed and I'm a master pikeman. I can take hits all day long.
Also, what weapons do you guys recommend for a new rifleman?
My template is going to look like this. TKM / Master Rifleman / Pikeman 4440. Do you guys think this will be a powerful combo?

Use a speed sliced Laser Rifle for grinding, since T21s are slow.

Get that T-21 sliced for speed if it isn't already. Also, make sure to carry around a few crates of Speed/Mind power-ups. That's the only way you can really use a T-21 at a worthwhile speed at Novice Rifleman. I would think you'd have quite a bit of combat XP saved up too? Try to get that last line(Special Abilities) as soon as possible. That's what makes you shoot faster, which you really, really need right now.
Some people recommend just getting a spraystick and spamming /pointblankarea(or was it single?) though that doesn't sound very 'rifleman' to me

I think they are almost equally bad, but with our messed up range mods, constantly kiting at the exact proper range is probably too difficult.Weapons you'll need- T-21 sliced for speed(for now), T-21 sliced for damage(for later), DXR-6b(when you get Counter-Sniping II), Jawa Ion Rifle(If you don't PvP, it can still be of use).
That template is pretty good. TKM + anything isn't bad and Rifleman + almost anything will work now it seems. Putting the other points into Pikeman isn't a bad idea either. I would try to get Novice Medic though, even with TKM.

There is no way to make you kill any faster at novice rifles, outside of getting a speed sliced T21, a speed sliced Laser, or a Sparystick. Naturally, speed powerups will help along the away. Move up the Rifle Abilities path every chance you get, as this is what gives us the Rifle Speed Skill Mod. The point is, Rifleman is very slow to level in the initial phases, but once you get past that part, you should be able to level to Master at a decent rate. Just stick with it.
