I'm currently grinding rifleman, very close to master, with the intention of killing some krayt afterwards. I've read both armor discussions in the Rifleman FAQ in the sticky and I get the vague impression that a T21 should be the best weapon in the game to kill a krayt, which is the impression that I had when I started grinding rifleman. I also get the impression that once I am master rifleman I should look for a 7.5ish speed T21 with the highest damage slice possible to do the job. Am I right there about those two things? Anecdotes would make me very happy as well.

Yes. you are right on both accounts. The T21 is the best rifle for krayt hunting, and the best stats ar master are about 7.5 speed with the highest possible damage slice. As for a few tips on hunting krayt solo....bring a chest plate or two. You will also need some med skills with some very good stim B's at least. It would also be a good idea to have some melee defense and if you plan on picking up a melee profession some time, I'd wait until you mastered it for the melee mitigation. Krayt dragons are tough....really tough. And even a master rifleman can get eaten quickly if he's not well propaired.

a master rifleman needs +97 rifle speed to fire all specials at speed cap with a 7.5ish t-21 . with only +90 speed you will fire certain specials once every 2 seconds or so ( in essence your damage per second will get halved ) . if you cant acquire the speed tapes or dont wont to waste skill points mastering masrksmen ( for the extra +5 rifle speed ) then you will be better of with a speed sliced t-21 .

I'll get the skill tapes no problem. Should I pay extra for a 7.4 speed T-21 or go with a 7.5/7.6?
Also, can I solo krayt with the pistoleer dodge mods tree and some medic skills?

Good question, I'm going up the pistoleer tree and going TK 0/04/4. After this I was planning on going master rifleman. Would the melee def and dodge work if I was using a rifle?

Bring a good tank buddy with you..it goes a lot easier. Especially if you find a giant canyon with dizzy/kd. That can really ruin your day.

This is a good point often overlooked and worth repeating for masters who don't have tapes. Without speed tapes you are still better off with a speed slice rather than a damage slice (except for applying bleeds)
