Thread: 64m, $15/month, now who really fell to the dark side?

Now, you mean to tell me that in a galaxy far far away, where they can travel in space the guns only shoot 64m? Lets do some math here, 1 yard = .9meters. That means in my world a High School Quaterback can throw the pigskin farther then my rifle can shoot. In my world, a real marksmen can hit a target with a nice bolt action rifle, heavy barrel and scope at 1 mile!!!! Whoever at SOE was in charge of this, your fired.


Old Schooling Everquest had arrows that would shoot farther then this. Now I am not a physics major but an arrow has weight and mass, a two foot long wooden shaft, granite/marble tip, and bird feathers. So, this archaic piece of ballistic artillery can outshoot a laser (heat = energy = light). This is an insult to my cranium.


The game engine can not handle anything beyond this? WHAT? I know plenty of online games like Unreal Tourmanent that requires half the hardware and runs circles, no wait, make that orbits at lightspeed around the PvP in SWG. This game could have been the end all to MMORPG's, but really its just the end.


Why are there no resources on half the servers? Why are the commandoes broken? Why do Squad Leaders suck? Why do half the skills not work? Why do the devs love Pistols? ANSWER: We are too dumb to recognize a crappy product when we see it.


George Lucas, your product sucks. Just like Episode 1, it only sold because of the name. Its a highly polished piece ofbantha dung. To quote somebody else on this board: " The devs are laughing all the way to the bank"

Wookie it seems to me instead of focusing on combat SOE/Lucasarts/Devs have made a more social game, just look atemotes,crafting, dancing, music, etc. Instead of being the main point of the game combat seems to be one of many equal things to do, as shown by the waya lot ofbug fixes are non combat related. The sad thing about this is that most of these thingsare broken in more thanone way, combat with the silly 64m and insane amount of bugs. This game was release at least 3 months too early in my opinion.


Whoever it was that said there's nothing to do in this game is a fool, thereare TONS of things to do, it's a shamemost ofthem arebroken. I wouldn't blame the Devs so much as they money men standing behind them, SOE and Luca$arts.

Have you ever noticed sometimes mobs dont appear on your screen until less then 64 meters? Render range for higher level computers is 128 meters, but some connections, cant handle it and load it up much later. Thus increasing the range of a weapon makes it so, you could be shooting a player that doesnt even see you.

Aldeon, I understand that the constraints of the engine limit the range. But if that is indeed the case, than the Pistol and Carbine must scale proportionitly to the range of the rifle. i.e. they must have there ranged nerfed somewhat for the Rifleman to stay compitive in both the PvP and non-PvP realms. We ARE snipers after all

I think it would work out that way, making different weapons having different maz ranges, gives you more of a reason to get a certain class. There are 2 specs nearly every person does, Master Caribine/BH caribine line, or Master Pistoleer/BH pistol line. Im betting near half the people who are full combat, (only master in combat) Are one of these 2 specs. Theres really no advantage of bieng anything else right now. You get extreme accuracy and extreme speed and damage from those 2 specs.


Fire Knockdown, OMG, one of the most lethal things ever, you cant even cure on fire.


Eye shot, at that speed, no one will survive.


Both of those specis get a knockdown, and a very high damage shot, shoot 100 percent with styles at 64 meters, and 1.0 speed.


The only class advantage that splits us apart from others is that we do mind damage, with a T21. Best weapon in the game, highest damage in the game. There is no doubt in my mind, that chances are I will still one shot everyonce in a while, and2 shots is all it will take.

Ok if the game cant hande distances over 64 meters then pistols need to be nerfed to...i dunno...round 15 max meters. And carbines to about 20 max meters...and thats compareing todays time.



In comparison to the ACTUALL rifles of the movie, it would be about:


Rifle 64 meters


Pistol 1 meter


Carbine 3 meters

Aldeon,


Not everyone going full combat does carbine or BH. I plan to be full TKA, some rifleman, some CH, and a wee bit o' scout. I anticpate being a more deadly killer then any BH.


Hit hard from far distances with a big gun, and kick thier *(&(^ from up close.

I know not everyone, but you will notice that over half the cobmat people do. Its just the best spec right now, and usually most people do the best spec.


15 max meters for a pistol is way to short, and you said 20 for a carbine? Way too short. Thats far to easy for us, you have to give them some chance of getting to us. Later on in the game, when we all get T21s, and were all master it will take us 2 shots. What seems fair to me is, 40m for pistol, 52m for carbine, 64m for rifle.


There is alot of other weapons too, but thats just a general range that I would see working out well.

AldeonAvardulinI think the mobs popping up is more due to server lag than player lag. When the Bestine sub-server was broken on Tarq I was running through mob spawns and having them pop up behind me after I'd ran through the whole lot. So it seems to me it is a problem with the server/engine not being able to handle the load of players being able tointeract with objects at greater than 64 range.


The same thing happens with houses, sometimes you can run right through them before the server loads them up. These are not connection problems since they have been confirmed by multiple people in my guild at various times.


My guild ended up moving to Naboo to get away from ServerSide lag, you couldn't hunt at all because everything had a 5 second delay.
