Thread: Is it just me or do I really suck?

Heya,

Currently I'm a Bothan Rifleman/Master Scout on Tarq. I have the first box of the sniper tree and thats it. Now is it just me or do I suck? I hear of people getting master rifleman in a matter of a month or so, what in the hell are you all killing?! I have a pretty good Tuskan Rifle (don't remember exact, but around 198 max damage and 5.1 speed) Now I understand that the Rifleman is a relatively underpowered class, but I should be doing better than I am. Right now I'm hunting foaming vynocks on Talus (901 exp with group bonus, 700 without), I was hunting Langlatches (who wasn't?)and was doing well, but thats all over now. Ican't seem to find anycreatures I can kill regularly and get good expfrom. It seems all the "Rifleman" creatures have been nerfed leaving not much left for us tohunt.

Now maybe I'm just not looking on the right planets, I don'tknow, but it seems tome that I'm ridiculesly underpowered and frankly, suck. When I see reports of people getting master in fairly short order, I'm forced to ask myself, why do I suck so much. I'm reluctant to scrap my character as I fundamentally like the idea ofa rifleman and refuse to follow the "sheep menatility" to become a BH/CHcharacter which seem to be everywhere, and I mean everywhere. Maybe I'mmissingsomething, but comapred to my brother (Fencer who can easily solo red con's), and every other character I see (CH/BH chars, Tera Kasi's, Pistoleers, etc), I suck.... a lot.

Your Thoughts.

First, you need a better rifle. Those tusken's are broken right now, and even if they weren't you could do far better. Go get a laser rifle and have it sliced.

Second, almost 1K xp per kill isn't to shabby at all, IMO. That's about what I get when I solo. It adds up faster than you think.

The reason people make master so fast is because they play. A lot. All the time. Crazy amounts.

But you really should get a better gun. That would be helpful to you, for sure.

Thanks for the reply,

Yeah I really want to buy a Laser Rifle, but I don't believe the resources have popped on Tarq yet (as of a week ago). Your right in saying almost 1k a kill not being too bad, but I only wish there was more of a variety of creatures that I was able to kill consistantly and still reap that kind of exp. Grinding with foaming vynocks for a LONG time doesn't exactly excite me. Thats another thing that I wish was different, a Pistoleer or whatever can solo a variety of creatures for good experience (leading for less down time, more killing time, and ultimately more enjoyment). Rifleman seem to have a very small group of creatures that we can kill without being incapped ourselves in the process (and still get somewhat respectable exp)

You can get Laser rifles on Tarq now. The link-steel popped about a week ago.

Buy a droid, go to dathomir, group, leave the droid in the outpost. Get Baz Nitch missions. They aggro red now, but they are still very killable. Pick one, stack your mindshots on him, warning shot the buddy of his that's running at you (usually his buddy starts running at you first) then warning shot your target and follow him. If you get teh opportunity, stack mindshots on his friend too. It takes some decent terrain negotiation, but I'd have the first one down in 2-3 minutes with his friend right behind him. That's a whopping 5k a pop rifle xp too. The mission will take you quite a while to finish, but who cares, you're here for xp not $$.

Yup, just realized that Laser Rifles are available, got one, and sliced it. Nothing extraordianry, but 18-336, 5.5, not too bad. Going to test it out now.

Mindshot1 stacks with Mindshot2 and vice versa. Multiple of the same Mindshots (1 or 2) I don't believe stack, although I haven't bothered trying.

I haven't seen anything better than a SG82 or Tusken Rifle on Scylla, so I still have my rusty old DLT20a. It's no wonder I'm struggling to kill anything larger than a Gnort. If anyone knows where I can get a Laser Rifle on Scylla, please advise.

As a novice rifleman not too far away from mindshot 2, I am intrigued by the reference to stacking...

Does this mean that using MS1 followed by MS2 does very nasty things? How do you tell if multiples of the same MS stack?

Apologies for being a rifle newb (I spend the majority of my time crafting armour, the rifle thing is a side gig).

Yep MS1 and MS2 stack, against high HAM mobs bleed stacking is very nice. You can see they stack by looking at the numbers that float up from the mobs head.

Wouldn't be surprised to see this nerfed soon though as it's very good for a rifleman whereasother classesdon't need it as much as they have knockdown.

Try hunting Bull Rontos ont Tat i've grouped with my Probot on several occations mindshot 1 and 2 then headshots. 2198 max xp for me a coupe of times and they give a gratifying ground shake when they fall dead.

The whole point of the game is exploring and testing. If you go to tatoonine and Hunt GreaterWhomp Rat's You get between 1.5k-2k rifle exp. I am also using two Grey sludge panthers to help me hunt. But with Conceal shot and Mindshot1 and 2 stacking. Also get yourself a SprayStick that shoots in the 2 second range. It will help with Warning shot a lot. It looks like MACE but is awesome for us riflemen as a backup when things start to get close.

I only use my laser rifle to bleed stuff, I don't like the HAM costs on it, pluswhen I miss it really hurts.
