I've decided I want to be a Rifleman, but I want do something else too. What prosfessions do you recommend? I only have skills in Brawler/Marksman/Scout so the professions heve to develop from one or two of these.

Well, if you are a brawler as well the 2 handed sword goes naturally with rifleman as both have specials that attack the mind bar. I am slowly climbing my way through both trees and find it to be quite an effective combination. You can master both sword and rifle and still have points for the ranged support, explore, and medical skills.

I know alot of people are going for the swords, but ive got to say

Ranger, ive only just started out as a scout, well almost master scout and i can see a hell of alot of benefits for those of us that use the rifleman skill.

There are traps out there that enable you to slow down targets, traps that hit mind pools and at to that the abilities and bonuses you get, i.e. terrain negotiation, camoflauge etc, creature knowledge, creature to hit bonus etc.. and i think it is pretty good tree. Camps are pretty useless but still i like the ranger tree.

I am slowly convincing myself that you dont need and other skill, other that Rifleman / Ranger and you should be able to stay alive against alot of creautres without the need to heal yourself.

PvP is the same. No Need to heal as it is first shot wins.

So my opinion is Rifleman / Ranger and if we where to ever get the Guille Suit, well then that would absultely be perfect.

I have a Wookie who plans on being Master Rifleman/Master Scout/Master CH...

What better way to keep those beasties at range than with my little fluffy.

Actually, I had never thought of ranger, but I'm growing to like it after the positive things you've said about it. Two other professions I was looking at were Commando and Squad Leader. If those aren't good skills to go with Rifleman then I'm gunna go with Ranger I think.

I intend on becomeing a Rifleman/Pikeman

Both of them give pluses to the +block+ defense...so i will be really god at blocking....

and rifleman is the only ranged skill tree (i think) that gives a melee defense bonus.....

currently i am working on pikeman.....as soon as i am done it is rifleman for me.....

It will help my current feild of expertise and help me agains those good for nothing kiters(you know who you are)

I think there is more too....but i forget

I doubted it at first but now I realize that Rifle/2H Sword combo is absolutely UBER. I can EASILY take down RED con mobs with proper self healing.

Yeah.. except block is broken and it doesnt look like its going to be fixed any time soon.
Yep, thats right Weve got an entire branch that is completely useless.

As for what you should use with rifleman.. id go with ranger, doctor, or a combinaion of both (maser medic/master scout).

it does seem to not work.....

but i will pursue it anyway(thanks for your concer though ) by the time i get where i wanna be it should be fixed

it will take me forever.....

I have sat here and done the math and I know exactly what i want to be

Marksman- 4/0/0/0

Rifleman- 4/4/4/4 - and Master

Brawler- 4/0/0/4

Pikeman- 4/4/4/4 - and master (POLEARM HIT 3 BABY!!!)

Tera Kasi- 4/3/3/4 - I want meditate and the defense plusses and there is no other even half decent place to allocate the remainder of my points

with all this my defense mods are as such-

Melee Defense- 65

Ranged defense- 63

Defense vs. Knockdown- 40

Defense vs Posture change (down)- 60

Defense vs Posture Change (up) - 30 (what do i need this for?)

Defense vs Dizzy- 55

Defense vs Stun- 55

Defense vs Blind- 40

Block- 35 (for when ever that kicks in)

Combat equalibrum- 40( i have no idea what this does)

But I think this is a very sound plan.....Pure numbers.

Try and knock me down with all that

I am working towards Teras Kesa and Rifleman...

my intention when I started was just use my rifle to pull, then slap on the vibro knuckles as they get close. I don't use my special moves with my rifle (I save that for my special unarmed moves during melee) and use a sliced laser rifle as my weapon of choice (24-429, 6.2 sliced).

Also, I am working my trapping xp.

Launch a trap (usually Glow wire, but sometimes poison dart), shoot once or twice with rifle, then lay the smackdown with my vibroknuckles (30-171, 2.2 sliced). So far it has worked awesome. I will be curious if the combo I am developing works as well as the mobs get tougher.

Skip Ranger, just stop at Master Scout. Ranger is a whoooole lotta work for very little benefit, at the moment. Have you lurked on the ranger boards at all? I've been doing so for three weeks, and the entire profession seems to be crying about how useless their skills are.

I'll put it this way: After thoroughly researching Ranger for weeks, I've given up on it and am here in this forum trying to find a replacement profession, like rifleman.
