Thread: Discrimination is getting me down...
Ecisshot, Wookiee, Flurry
Pistoleer, Medic
Brian_92gsr, it depends alot on what you want to do. That would be agood offensive mind-damage focused PvP build, but I think it might not necessarily be worth the skill points (BH is pricey).
If you want to be a BH, you can probably do very solidly in PvP with just BH pistol and Underhand Shot, with the rest of your skill points going towards medic and pistoleer skills for defense and healing. Or you could be a Master Rifleman, and a Master Doctor or Combat Medic - this will be a very, verypowerful PvP build in my opinion.
I already thought of that Ecisshot. When asked what my profession is, what am i supposed to do, say i am a Pistoleer with this big honkin rifle in my hands? I play with no tag by my name to increase the chance that I could group. It doesnt help.
I think that Rifleman are meant to be loners.

If you've got trapping skills you can use those; if you have medic skills and use them most people will love you.
I do have some medic skills. I can make Stim B's and can heal wounds like a champ.I have not bothered to up my trapping skills yet. I only have up to Trapping II.
What I really want is to travel with a group of Rifleman. In my eyes, and from what all other groups are telling me, that is the only way I will be able to group in a decent fashion to be able to use my skill to the fullest.
I dont see any of the people on this thread posting from Gorath server either. Everyone seems to be from elsewhere.

Hey Salomon,
I feel your pain man! Even RL friends are happier going with other people now because I am focused on the one HAM bar.
I play on the Gorath server and your right, I rarely see any rifleman. I would group with you any day but I am a little lower than you in the tree (Novice Rifleman) and I have sporadic playing times right now due to gettingmarried in a little less than 2 weeks.
The name is the same in game as on the forums so look me up sometime. I generally get on around 8-9 pm PST which is pretty late your time but maybe we can group one of these days. Hang in there!
Chris
I am a novice rifleman on the Gorath Server. My characters Name is Demenus. My playing time is a bit off as I am going out of town the next 2 weeks but I am there. Now if We can just get some resources to pop on Gorath.
I think the problem is half with inability of the professions to complement each other early on, and half with the mercenary attitude of so many players. The friends you've made won't group with you because your abilities don't give them 100% combat efficiency? Then they aren't friends. They're cows following the Pistoleer/BH herds who have no real interest in you as just a fun person to play with.
The one guy I usually play with is a friend I met in DAoC and then stayed in touch with after we both quit that game. I've been redesigning and undoing my SWG character's skill plan from scratch about once every two weeks, and he doesn't give a crap about differences in our combat abilities, or if we're hitting different pools, or any of that. We kill what we can kill, make jokes, laugh to ourselves at the dumb character names we see, and a dozen other things that make the experience fun.
It does seem hard to find people like that, though. All I can say is, I hope you find some before you reach the end of your patience with all the jerks.
Hey Sal
Sorry to hear of your woes.
This is not a rant or rave, nor is it a post of how good i am, im just trying to use some of my experiences to try and help you out.
Myself, i dont seem to have any troubles getting invites to hunts and what not, but anyways, something for you to consider is, why dont you start your own hunting parites and invite people along?Go to different places! Get people to join with you? Go to the cantina and see if anyone is interested in going for a hunt, go to different places and see if anyone is interested in a hunt? Start up converstions with them, sit down, while you are in the med centre and have a chat to the doctors and they might know of a hunt.
Dont necessarily see that a hunt it being formed and ask if you can go along, create conversations with other players. Get to know people aibt more before coming our straihgt and asking them if they are up for hunt. Be interested in them a little and you will find the a relationship can start reasonably easy.
The perfect example was last Friday night, i went to Yavin4 cause a fellow rifleman said its a good place for XP, so i went along and my UBERness was utterly handed to me on a plate by a thing that looked like an ape. Did this a few times, in the end decided to leave. WHile waiting for the Shuttle, i got into a chat with another player, 15 mins later i was in a hunting party and had probably the best fun i have had to date playing this game. This highlight was at the end when we all decided to head to the cantina to heal some battle fatigue before we headed out to do some more missions. We spent about an hour in the cantina, joking and laughin, at one stage myself and another musician where playing healing the battle fatigue, and we had 7 or 8 guys all dancing like Can Can girls, trying to stay in step with each other, some of the funniest stuff i have ever seen. As it turns out if been asked to join their PA and also have a standing invite to join them anytime they are having a hunt. From that very hunt, i haveseveralplayers that i have added to my friends list and am constantly talking to and seeing how things are going etc..
ANother thing to do is add people to your friendlist and show some interest in them, ask what they are doing, if they are tryin to reach a certain skill, ask how it is going etc..
Most of all, make sure you have fun, and generally people will have fun with you. Dont necessarily worry about XP, as it is i think you are a Master anyways? so this should be the elast of your concerns, if you get an invite to join a group, most of all, have fun, crack some jokes, tell them a little about yourself, ask them about themselves and generally you will find most people will be up for the social interaction.
As a last resort, drop the Gorath server and come to Bloodfin, i will be more than glad to have you "Tag" along.
I dont know if this happens to anyone else, but this seems to happen to me alot on Gorath...
I usually play at night around 8 or 9 o'clock eastern, and have found that no one ever wants to have me in a group with them. Is it to be my lot in life on the servers to be a lone coyote? I have been a loyal addition to the Rifleman profession, but am now feeling that I may have made a mistake in this. More and more people are turning me away, saying that there is really no need to have a Rifleman in their group.
I find myself getting more and more bored with my situation as my game progresses night after night. It's getting lonely going solo all the time. I find myself hoping that someone would just say "Hi" to me ingame. Even the friends that I have made ingame seem to not want to hang out with me anymore, having found others that compliment their profession better.
This may be my last week as Rifleman if things continue like this... I just want to have fun with this game again. After tonight, I dont know what I am going to do with this game. I have a friend who has been telling me to drop my Rifleman profession to become a Pistoleer or Commando, but dont see sacrificing all the experience that I have earned over the last 4 weeks as a Rifleman. I dont really know what to do, and find myself playing less and less of this game nightly and turning back to Counter-Strike for fun.
In the past 3 weeks, I have only grouped with one person in one night. The entire rest of the time has been spent grouped with my Probot, and he is not very good for conversation. The vast fields of Talus are starting to take their toll on me, and I feel that I should be hanging up my Rifle soon. It just doesnt seem normal to be shunned from every group that I meet...
I also find myself in need of a change of game. I am no longer enchanted with the Star Wars Universe that I was when i first began my online life. Where are the long missions I once experienced in the time I spent playing Asheron's Call 2? Where are the fun times I've had in groups of 20 people hunting big game?
I dont know what to do now. I am rambling on about bull$hit... This game is not changing for me... Something has to happen for me to continue... These predjudices have to end in order for me to enjoy the game again. If I had known I was going to be the reject of all professions, I'm sorry to say, I would have become a Bounty Hunter of Pistoleer.

Rifles are an "end-game" weapon. They are relatively weak early, especially in the Marksman tree, but later on - towards Master Rifleman - the speed and accuracy bonuses add up significantly, and finally at Master Rifleman your weapon performance will peak. This is the opposite of pistols - especially for PvE, pistol performance starts strong but peaks early, and then declines against higher level opponents with strong armor.
This is why pistols are so popular now, in fact: the game is still immature, and so are the players. A Pistol Specialist with a well made, well sliced weapon can reach max speed with it. A Rifle Specialist can't... and so people think pistols are better. But a Master Rifleman will outdamage a Master Pistoleer, because they're using a much harder-hitting weapon with a higher AR rating, while the Pistoleer's speed bonuses aren't helping as much as the Rifleman's are.
