Thread: Role-players: How do you role-play being a Rifleman?

Not to sound rude, but I'm not looking for the Ranger/Rifleman guys. My toon's a city boy; grew up in Coronet, moved to Coruscant in his late-teens and moved back to Corellia in search of the Rebel Alliance.
Anyways, I'm just curious, how do you roleplay your Rifleman? With Jek, my MC/BHC, I said, he was trained in pistols when he was younger (which was partially true, originally, he was going to be a Smuggler, so I had almost mastered Pistols in Marksman, before I even picked up a carbine.) But, with Jek, he was only a young teenager when he was learning, so his hands were smaller, and when he grew up, he liked having two hands on a blaster for better stablity and accuracy.
So, with Arev, my Rifleman, I'm thinking about saying, he enjoyed taking popshots with Jek growing up, but like his personality, he wanted power. So, instead of small carbine, he went to something bigger, a rifle.
Also, when I roleplay, I prolly won't use a T-21, they seem too big, as someone pointed our already, they were used for infantry support, not sniping. If I ever get my hands on a Beserker, I'll use that.

My character is a bit different in that he isn't actually from the Star Wars universe. Basically, he woke up one day, and had no idea who he was or how he had gotten here. He had motor skills and was obviosuly not lacking common sense things; but he still had no real idea as to what was going on around him. The one thing he did know about was guns. The moment he picked up a CDEF Rifle he knew how to operate it. Essentially I play him as a wandering hunter and a shooter in the service of the Empire. The PA that I am in is a roleplaying PA and their characters try to help him learn about this universe, but let him make his own choices (i.e. some of them are Rebel, but he is Imperial). I am not a hardcore roleplayer, in that I will interact with anyone in the game from an out-of-character standpoint (some people won't, I am told). However, I do love to roleplay, so I try to associate with other players who do...as it makes my play time more enjoyable.
That's the gist of it though, a hunter who is out in search of answers, trying to find out who he really is and where he came from. Gunscame naturally to him, so there was noreason for him to not pursue the Rifleman profession.He joined the Empire because the militaristc nature felt like it was calling to him. In truth, he doesn't really care much about the Empire as an ideal, but he will fight for it.

I play the angry young (113 years old) Wookiee with memory loss.
I was found adrift in space by the Wanderhome. The shuttle I was in had been badly damaged and I'd rerouted some systems to maintain minimum life support. The MedTechs said that the prolonged exposure to minimal air has caused my memory lapse.
Why am I called Waste? As I was in the Bacta tanks the MedTechs asked me my name. The first think I saw when I opened my eyes was a sign. 'Waste Disposal - Biohazard'. So Waste is my name for now.
The shuttle computer had been wiped. Apparently by my. I'm not sure why. I have flashes sometimes. I see other Wookiees. I believe they are my parents and siblings. I think I helped them escape from something by using the shuttle as a distraction. I think they are still alive. Now I just need to find them. But to do that I also need to find myself. To know who I am.
After being healed on the Wanderhome I started my new life in Tyrena. When I picked up a rifle it just felt right. Like I may have known how to use them before my 'accident'. So I relearned what I had apparently forgotten. I've been using rifles ever since that day. They are what I'm most comfortable with.
I now live on Dantooine. Near some old ruins and a stream. I can fish if the mood takes me or sit on my porch and pick off Huurtonsand Voritors.

I roleplay a Soldier, a tactical and communications officer who's transferred and given up on his rank after being injured with extensive nerve damage, that with time and healing I regained my ability to snipe again.
Signed up as a recruit in the Stormtrooper Detachment Epsilon, and worked my way up to Sergeant in the IIS , Intelligence and Internal Security department. I try to maintain order in the galaxy with my fellow Troopers, in name of the Emperor

My character, Colonel Varro, has just been inducted as a Field Commander by a secret rebel organization who uses a legal fight club as a front to hide from the Empire.
Living on the crime planet, Nar Shadaa, he was used to constantly being around highly illegal activity and things of the sort. Railn fled Nar Shadaa because he lost a bet (to a cheating hutt) and refused to pay. Railn was on the next shuttle to Tatooine, to hide from the Hutt and his clan.
If one is looking to hide, Tatooine is an ideal place to be. The only real threat would be dealing with and hiding from the most notorious Hutt, Jabba... He realized his mistake after about two weeks of arriving in Mos Eisley starport..
Living and hunting near a small town called Wayfar, he lived quietly for a while. Railn got lost one day and headed a little too far to the west and stumbled upon a large, what seemed to be a palace.
Unfortunately, he found out it was Jabba's criminal operation headquarters. However, luck was on his side. Jabba had not yet found out who he was... that is.. until the bounty was put on his head by the Hutt on Nar Shadaa. Railn was forced to avoid public transportation, and eventually came across an odd pair of transport pilots.. a Wookie by the name of Kyyrchew anda Trandoshan by the name of Poseidon..
They took him to Corellia, to a group of people living on a fairly remote island, to get the bounty removed from his head.. and that they did. A group known as the CREW.. They took him in, sheltered him, taught him how to hunt. He got accustomed to the lethal range and power of the rifle and since then, has never been without one.
His dear friend Kyyrchew was killed afterbeing searched for illicit goods inTheed starport and eventually, this led Railn to join the fight against the Empire'es tyranny. Months later, he's become a Rebel Colonel leading attacks and special operations against the empire.

Although I am a ranger rifleman, I'm also a Botha. And I like playing the "guns that are bigger then me" bit. I'm small in stature and thus need more power, and to keep my distance to keep the big nasties away.

My wook has been wandering the galaxy trying to find his honor family that he lost. Using hte skills he perfected on Kashyyyk, he hopes to become regain his honor family, or at least find a new one. nutil then he makes a living by hunting the local fauna. he checked in with a distant relative that ran a cantina in Mos Eisely, but decided Tatooine was too hot when you have fur, and went to the greener Naboo. He is not much for pysical combat and prefers to challange himself and tests his excellent marksman skills.
His favorite thing to do when out on a hunt is to say "See that spec on the horizen?" *POW* oops, its gone now.

my character grew up with his Older Brother Anaon, my cousins Avatar, our father was an Imperial army officer and trained us to go in as Officers too. eventually we became disgusted with the empire, and lack of intelligence by most of the Imps on our server, that we left. i focused on my Sniping skills that i picked up from the Empire's sniper Academy. and i took a few counter sniping courses in the hidden Rebellion camps. then i went to a few Rebel Ofiicer Training programs and attained the Rank of Sargeant. at that point i became a Squad Leader and began leading my terroristic and highly tactical riflemen have been dishing out enough damage to the imps for a while now.

I play as Drekkar Storm, a lost trader whose ship's computer took over and tried to kill him. He now wanders the galaxy with nothing but a loin cloth and a T-21.

I want to play the crazed deranged wookie who snipes people from one of the towers ofthe Theed palace. Alas,I cannot do that. . .yet.

Depends on your character i guess
Ranger/Rifleman is a good combunation for doing a big game hunter type.
Rifleman with other ranged and some melee could do an army type or stormtrooper.
Rifleman/CH/BE could be used for like a rancher
Rifleman/BH could be played out like an Assassin
Rifleman/commando could be done like a normal mercenary
Tons of option available but its dependant on the type of character you want to play.
