Thread: Which rifle is the best?

I'm new to the Rifleman profession and was wondering which rifle would be the best to use. Right now I see no reason to upgrade from my Laser Rifle, which does 79-442 damage. The T-21 does from 120-300 or so and has heavy armor penetration, but what armor is considered heavy? My composite armor's class is "Light". As far as the DXR-6b, other than having acid attack, what's so good about it? Both of these weapons have a lower max damage than my laser rifle, and they have a larger attack speed (I'm assuming that attack speed is the time between attacks, and high numbers are a bad thing).
What are the advantages of the higher weapons if they can't do as much damage as my Laser Rifle?

I'll also add that if your T-21 is 100-300 damage, throw it out. You should be able to find one that is unsliced with 400 max damage or a sliced one of at least 500 damage(540 is possible on many servers). At lower levels, you may find yourself better off getting a T-21 sliced for speed(a 25% slice will get you a 5.7 speed rifle). Add a speed/Mind power-up onto that and you should be able to get it to 5.0 speed or less with a significant reduction in Mind cost.

i thought laser rifles had 0 AP...but i never really checked as i never ever use it. even as novice. the only thing i used laser for was getting the marksman line up. a t21 will do triple the damage that a laser could do with a shortened range of min-max damage. if you are novice with no combat xp to spend on the xxx4 line then you need to get a speed sliced t21. if you have at least 0002 then you could start using a damage sliced one. hunt quenkers and you'll find mastering is much easier than with a laser. if you are master then its obvious what you should use. i have 97 speed and i shoot a 711 max 7.5 speed t21 with strafeshot2 every second and it usually hits for 3-6k on storm troopers with a AOE. i can usually take out an entire base of ST's in less than a minute. with conceal shot i can kill an AT-ST in about a minute and a half. even if your lasers max is more than your t21's the min damage is significantly lower and AP3 is a godsent to all rifleman.

The problem with the Laser Rifle is that it has a very low Minimum damage. Notice that your T21 is probably up over 100 or 120 Minimum damage, plus, you need to know how the AP/AR thing works to appreciate the T21. So here it is in as few words as I can think of:
-- Your rifle has AP (Armor Piercing) 0-3. T21 has 3, Laser has (damm, I forget!) 2 ?
-- Your enemy has AR (Armor Resists) of 0-3.
-- For EVERY LEVEL YOUR AP IS ABOVE YOUR ENEMY'S AR, You get a 25% increase in damage.
-- (There are exceptions to this if your enemy has AR0)
-- So if AP/AR calculations ARE in effect, your T21 is doing 25% more damage than your Laser with the same shot value.
So in your case, your T21 is still doing LESS damage, even with the 25% increase, but that is because you have a weak T21. This might change if you get a T21 that is closer in Max Damage to your Laser. Also, you may be firing your Laser faster... you didn't mention the speed values or your Rifleman level. T21's are notoriously slow.
Personally, at lower level Rifleman, I would be putting SPEED powerups on your rifles.
As to the DXR-6B, this all depends on WHAT you are hunting. There are NPCs out there with high Energy resists and Low Acid resists (Jantas on Dant for example). So the bottom line is you WILL use your Laser more often than the others, but there are times when you will be very glad you have the others.
If you ever go to the Geo Dungeon, there are lots of MOBs just made for a DXR-6b.
