Sup all,

I just spent the last 2 hours looking at the current mind buffs. There are some changes besides the increase in duration and strenght of the buffs.

MIND BUFFS ARE NOT AUTOMATIC ANYMORE. Just watching a dancer/musician does not give you the buffs. It requires action from the dancer/musician.There are now 2 ways to get the mind buffs, active and passive.

  • Active: (Fast, One person buffing)
The dancer/musician targets a person and then /setperform , You receive a message about the buffer is now perfroming for you. Thisis tied to the flourshing of the performer, the more flourishing the more duration. This should take only 5 minutes of watching to get the 2 hour buff, (but it usually takes a bit more because most dancers/musicans dont nonstop flourish).

  • Passive: (Slower, muliple person buffing) [less tested than active, by me or by forum posts]
This buffing is almost the same as prepatch, with one LARGE change. It only works when you are GROUPED with the dancer/musician. It also takes longer to get the buff[dont know for sure]. The forums posts were saying that a 10 minute watching was giving around 70 minute buff. I don't know if they were doing alot of flourishes during this time.

Results of mytestting (active only, was just starting passive when server crashed)

  1. Dancer Mind buffs are currently cause some willpower drops. You need to eat some food to bring it back up.

  2. Even NOVICE players get extended duration. I was only able to test the musicians active buffing with a player who had the novice lvl mind enhancements (10%) (Techniques tree give this) I only got a 130 buff each to focus/willpower, BUT it lasted over 1 hour 40 minutes (not sure how long it would have gone, naritus crashed) I watched him for about 5-7 minutes with active buffing.

  3. My dancer's mind buff was a full 2x (she was a master dancer), but she did not do alot of flourishes. I watched for about 6-8 minutes and the buff lasted for 1 hour 23 minutes with active buffing.

  4. I watched the Novice Musician less than the master dancer, but the novice musicains buff lasted longer than the master dancer's buff. The only thing I noticed was the dancer did not do alot of flourishes, while the novice musician used them almost non-stop. (He was not completely novice, around 1-3-4-1, the 1 is the techniques BUT lvl 1 does not give buff enhancements, only novice, Tech2,3,4, and master increase the buff %.)

I've already starting "friend" listing all the local dancers/muscians. (The changes to the friend screen make this REAL easy to see if any one is around that can buff you [using group names])

My server (Eclipse) finally came up at about 11:30PM CST last night, so I got to try it out.

-- I found a master Dancer who wanted to try it out too. She focused on me (active buffing) so I watched her and healed her for just over 20 mins because I wasnt sure of the time length.
-- Be aware that your Mind bars will showed nothing until youSTOP WATCHING/LISTENING!
-- Be aware that Dancer's enhance only the two secondary mind bars
-- Musicians enhance only the first (general) mind bar
-- While she was focused on me, a master Musician came in. I watched him for about 8 mins (not sure) but as far as I know he did NOT /setperform on me.
-- Finally I Stopped watching/listening to both of them.
-- My mind (normally 1050/500/500 because I'm Twi'lek)was now 2100/1000/1000!
-- I hunted for approx 1 hr, 30 mins before I was slain by a warping pirate.
-- The buffs do NOT survive a cloning. Not unexpected, but disappointing.

It was at that time that the server went down again. I am SO looking forward to the next time I can buff my mind that way, AND find a doctor for HA buffs!

Does this not have NERF written all over it? And if I were a Master Smuggler selling Muon GOld, I would be PIZZED!

Additional note: I was Grouped with the Master Dancer, though she did /setperform on me so it shouldn't have mattered. But since the Master Musicianthat showed up also joined the same group, that may be why listening to him gave me the double mind bar buff without him doing a /setperform on me also.

So the dancer buffed all three stats or just the one, then you found a musician to finish it off. Either way thats outstanding. I don't think it will be nerfed, doctor buffs are just as good on the other stats and finding a master dancer is not all that easy anymore.

Also according to what the dancer correspondant says, the buffs do not stack either. With the uber buffs did you regen mind like crazy?

Swiller...

My mind regened so fast that I almost never saw white on my mind bar! There was one badproblem, and it was the one that eventuallygot me killed. After a while my on-screen HAM bars stopped updating and I was"stuck" at a display that didn't show the real state of my bars. I didn't want to re-log for fear I'd lose the buffs, so I tried to continue by healing myself frequently. So I didnt know how much danger I was in when I got killed, but I'm almost positive it was my HA bars and not my mind that got me. I have NO IDEA if this was related to the buffs, as this has happened to me before last night.

Good news but from what you posted it sounds buggy now, can't wait to try it out. He he, all those 3K+ tips to Dancers and Musicians is finnallly going to pay off.

A warning from a now obsolete class. (Chef)

All food seems to be totally bugged, as are doc buffs. When they expire, they will drop your natural stat max. Some chefs have incapped themselves eating the big mind foods....they all all hosed...

Nepenthes... I feel for ya... and for the smugglers who make muon gold (but at least they do other things too, like slice weapons for decent money).

As a rifleman this is obviously good for me (and for entertainers), but I have to wonder what the devs were thinking. What is the mood on the chef forum? Is everyone thinking about jumping ship?

Yeah I feel for the chefs also. They have completely ignored you guys since release. I thought it might have been a cool class at release, but being a rifleman I can only take so much punishment before I snap. Being a rifleman and a chef thatmust belike the double whamy of frustration.

Although, with the new danage changed in PvP, I can solo a group of 20 imps with 1 crate of Angerian Fishnak, just get them to drink them, and 12 minutes later they will all be mind incapped..

This is now a chef complaint, just a warning to my fellow rifleman who still use food. Test food before you go out to see what it will do when the effects drop. Some have left stats higher than they were before the food was eaten.
