Thread: Mindshot and no xp
I noticed this before the patch and it's the same after the patch. If I mindshot a critter and it bleeds for more damage than I do with headshots, I get no experience for killing the critter. To make matters worse, I'm unable to harvest the critter and looting the critter gives me the message that I don't have permission to loot the critter.
I should get some xp for this right? I should be able to harvest it right? I'll try and /bug it, but I won't keep my hopes up.
Can the Rifleman advocate take this to the developer? It's hard enough getting combat and rifle xp.
Thanks,
raybon
That has never been true for me.
Infact, one of my strategies was to find a mob that doesn't death blow that has a big HAM, hit it with mind shot one and two, auto fire and let it incap me (since I didn't have any alternative anyway), then it will bleed to death while I am incapped and under no threat.
Then I got better rifles and better abilities and I didn't need to do that anymore, but that's not the point.
I agree, I do not believe the assessement is correct. Bleedsgive youXPeven if you are incapped under the correct circumstances. I know that a couple of things happen with bleeding where it won't, though. First, if you get a creature to bleed, but do no other damage to it, and it dies, youmay get no credit for having killed it whether you are incapped or not. Likewise, even if you get other damage on it, if the creature gets beyond a certain distance from you (I believe it got bumped up to 80m with this patch), and then dies, you will often get no credit for killing it whether you are incapped or not. I think the latter triggers mainly if you are at peace with thecreature when it dies, which would be the case if you were incapped or dead. In both cases, not gettng credit for killing it means that you wouldget no XP and no loot/harvest rights.
Otherwise, I have seen plenty of times I have hit a target for bleeding damage, gotten incapped by that creature or one of his buddies, and gotten XP once it died even while I was incapped. Therefore, my guess is that the creature either took no damage from another kind of shot or it moved out past the 80m range so that you got no credit from it. Of course, it could have been the one that miffs me the most, too. That is, lately it seems that they creatures are despawning too quickly. I have been incapped or killed by a group of creatures, but laid there with the satisfaction of knowing I hit one with a bleeding shot and even waited to clone just so I could see the thing die regardless of whether I got credit for it or not, only to have it despawn before the bleed killed it. ARRRGH. I hate that. ![]()
I'll have to check it out again tonight. I know this morning that the syck was within 80m when it died because it was laying at my feet. I may have only gotten the mindshot2 and mindshot1 off on its way over to me though. With the AR and AP bugs in right now mindshots are the only way to take down critters that used to be easy.
Thanks,

You only get EXP for bleeds if you've done a signifigant amount of damage to it that was NOT bleeding damage. If you headshot something two times THEN bleed it and get incapped, then you probally will still get exp.
It works that way with all bleeds, not just mind bleeds.

yeap sometimes i do get the xp and sometimes i don't... it seems if i mindshot one critter and move on to another and don't go back to the first, then i don't get credit for the kill.
I've been having this problem with normal shots
I'll be running to my harvesters weilding my pistol and will body shot a kreetle, and many times it will just die with no xp reward to me, other times I will get the 49 pistol xp I'm supposed to get from them. It's kinda frustrating.
