Thread: To Master or not to Master? That's the Question.

I'm almost at master rifleman, merely thousands of xp away. I mastered Markman, and was wondering if anyone else did and dropped it or kept it. Was it worth keeping or dropping? and why?

It all depends on how fast you wanna kill...

The effect that master marksman has on the rifle profession mainly has to do with speed. Simply put, it doubles the rate of fire that a master rifleman without master marksman enjoys.

Here is a link where I answer this question and try to explain the math behind the speed increase.

Hope this helps

I dropped master marksman for 2/4/3/0 doc.

Was it worth it? Yes.

Do I miss MM? Yes.

In group PvP I don't miss it too much, however in solo PvP I do find myselfwishing I still had thatspeed.

It really helps out a lot. It really comes down to a fraction of a second on auto-fire and a second plus using a special. It doesn't seem like much, but you guys seem to notice the difference. Guess I'll have to try them both. Thanks again.

That's a good question. it's tough to justify all those skill points for +5 speed... i know how you feel.

What I would do is drop your master marksman (just drop the title) BEFORE you get master rifle. play a few days as just master rifleman, and enjoy it. you certainly will. then, after some experience -both pVe and PvP, maybe a weeks'worth so you really know your capabilities - pick up master marksman again, and see how you dig it.

I warn you though- you will probably never want to drop master marksman again and you will always feel slightly weaker without it. Maybe you should never get it at all..ignorance is bliss!

I made the mistake of timing my progression so that i had master marksman the day before i had master rifle. Life was good when i hit master rifle/master mark. i was in awe of my new capabilities. then, one day i dropped marksman .. that lasted a whole three days, and i felt naked and lacking.

Now, i've even gone so far as to drop all my CH and scout skills to support my Master Marksman, Master Rifle, novice doctor (buffs) template. i luv the +5 too much, and this template is for total PVP and PVE domination (i hope). fortunately, i have guildmates who can provide me with the things i can't provide myself

so, after all that rant, i would just suggest you master rifleman without master marksman at first. and get used to it/see how you like it. If you like to diversify and go up TKA or other things, then you will probably want to leave marksman out of it.

my old template was a lot of fun as well - Master Mark, Master Rifle, novice medic, CH - i could tank and kill just about anything on my own, so if you like PVE more than PVP, i would highly recommend something along these lines.

either way, you'll love master

Yeah, you still get the double speed with the +5 speed tape if you don't have master marksman. I do, I don't have master marksman but I have a pair of +4 to speed pants
