Thread: OK, what am I doing wrong
Hi guys, burgeoning rifleguy here. I have been reading over the forums, and I gotta figure out what I'm doing wrong. Even for a rifleman my damage isn't very good. I average about 4-500 a hit regular attack, with specials like flurryshot1, strafeshot1 anywhere from 500-1000dmg. My headshot3 does better dmg, about 1-1.5k on average.
I read on the forums where you all hit for 1k+ on each shot, with sometimes hitting for 3k (I realize I'll get strafe2 with master) but is that the only way to do it? Please advise! Oh ya, currently using a t21 thats 128-339 base (sliced for speed) and my skills are 2/1/0/2.
cheers,

I think the only thing you are doing wrong is either misunderstanding what someone is posting or believing all the claims you see on these forums
I don't think the damage is that low for that rifle. Also you are counting the 400-500 damage before or after you get the AP adjustment? In other words is that what is in the combat window? Or the floaty number that comes up over the targets head when you hit him?
What targets are you shooting? The only reason you would be getting damage of only 4 points with a T21 is if you were shooting something that was all but immune to energy damage. The T21 is heavy armor piercing. That means at worst, you are getting no damage bonus because your are shooting something with with heavy armor. So ignoring resistances for a moment, you should be getting the following minimum damages with a normal attack:
Unarmored Targets: 128 * 1.5 * 1.25^3 = 375
Light Armor: 128 * 1.5 * 1.25^2 = 300
Medium Armor: 128 * 1.5 * 1.25 = 240
Heavy Armor:128 * 1.5 = 192
So in a worst case scenario, in order to do only 4 points of damage using a T21, the target would have had to have had 98% resistances and heavy armor or (down to) 99% and no armor. Check your target's resistances. You may need to be usinga different gun (Jawa does stun damage and SG82 does cold).
Pickign up other rifles would be a great way to get around the low damage issue and keeping um on the toolbar for quick switching helps too. Theres not too many professions that canuse stun weapons so if you can pick a few up and get um sliced, if your a lower riflemen a good speedslice helps a lot, then again if your a master a damage slice is a beautiful thing
With the Jawa Ion you shot right though peoplescomposite armor and since your a riflemen you know that us and armor to coverour selfs with out a goodbuff is hard to pull off, but since theStun is usually not protected by composite and so it eats their condition up quick.Plus it sounds cool to shoot ![]()
Alsountil the next patch is full out the AP system is still broken, so you should be seeing soem improvements with this new patch. As well as block and meleemodifiers being amped up
Sure its not cure to the 2.5 damage that wetakebut on the TC it has taken out alot of the 1 hit incaps that we weregetting. Along with accuracy modifiers you'll notices a huge difference and hopefully it will apply through out more than just once you hit master your uber ![]()
sorry i should of clarified.
i average 400-500 damage, not 4-500, sorry. I will get some quotes of people saying averaging 1000 a hit, but not now don't have enough time.
I regulary use a sliced jawa and sg82, but on average i hit for more on any particular mob if i use t21 by itself.
I guess I can chalk it up to misunderstanding then. Ah well, was hoping for some trick to big damage ![]()
