I do just fine. 20k missions are my bread and butter.

Well, the only big money missions, and not 20k but more like 13k, that the term will even give me when I am solo (and by that I mean without a pet to hunt over) are NPC missions.

I have tried to keep this character a pure hunter and not do NPC missions as a rule, as I could never get resources from them. I can't comment on NPC missions.

Now with HUNTING on the advanced planets...

As far as surviving.... a low level Rifleman going solo will HAVE to do /concealshot. That leads to mixed results.

Firstly, it will take you a long time to finish off a lair using only /concealshot. Secondly, you will be aggroed repeatedly by stuff you are not hunting in a lair or spawn next to your target.
Thirdly, I have run into situations where I actually ran out of time and got "mission incomplete" when trying to take out a lair with just /concealshot.

I am not sure its worth your time quite frankly.

Now, if you aren't going solo, and hunting over yours or someone else's tank, say a Graul or a Mtn Squill.. you can do much more damage and be much more efficient. But if that's not the case, until you get higher up in the Rifleman tree (i.e. 1-1-3-3) then I would suggest wailing on stuff like Rontos and Banthas. Remember, its XP over time that's important.

I am 3,1,3,2. I hunt solo without a pet (usually) on Dantooine. I am comfortable enguaging almost anything I see using conceal shot, but I like to hunt the Pikets and Huurtons Stalkers because they only have like 15% resist and give good hides and meat.

I have been praticing argo fighting (because our conceal shot may be going away :smileysad, and I can do it using the common methods talked about on these forums. MS1/MS2 combo/peace. Run back about 90m so you have a single pull when the bleeds kick in. Use warning shot/peace to break argo after the first wave of bleeds. Use HS2 to tap of the critter after the second set of bleeds kicks in. I can do this comfortably without any pet, and more comfortable with a pet (but that means healing the pet after each fight which uses up the stims).

The only problem is the constant bugs, like warping me 70m to the right, directly in the middle of a pack of reds. Or popping a fresh spawn right next to my single pull half way into the fight, which of course argo's on me. Or the ever enjoyable invinsible mob, the one that has 1 mind point left. So you load 99 HS2's in the que and kite him, all over, shooting and shooting. Shot after shot, and get incaped while he still has the one point in his mind pool. These bugs are about 1 in every 3 pulls, so they really hinder progress. Wich SOE would fix things like that before they nerf something like conceal shot (hint, hint).

I don't get 20k a mission, but I'm not even halfway to master. I'm not sure if Dantooine is consider a suicide planet or not, but I get about 3.9k a drop of a picket, and about 4.1k per picket longhorn, and about 4.6k per huurton stalker, so I think it's pretty good. I'm really a noob at this though.

I'm on Lok, as a 1-0-2-1 rifleman, and I can rack up the xp real quick. You just have to pick your targets. Go after the snakes, they take 1, maybe 2 shots and give bout 800 xp. The tougher ones, 4k HAMs, usually require taking cover. Also, the Begeraset-type things (Garupaset or something) give you valuable herb meat, and 1k xp. The Perkletts aren't too bad, if ya have a powerful enough gun. I'm slow, but when I hit, up to 3.5k damage with HS2. Things die quick.

To summarize: find lots of "easy" kills, and due to the vast amount of them, you can make up xp very quickly, maybe close to 50K per hour or so at minimal risk

Lok is a great place to go as novice rifle man ...

as stated you rack up the xp and and if you want cash you can do the pirate missions Marooned pirates... they may require pets but it will not be to long before you have worked your way up to the 8000 dollar merc missions that only have 2 mercs..

but with lok comes death and a lot of it. due to how hostile lok can become...

if you want a more relaxing atmosphere then dantooine is your cup of tea... but you will be doing mostly lairs as the npc's on dantooine or very tough but you have a higher chance of getting holocrons.

dathomir is either hit or miss sometimes its full of stuff other times it empty. but i havent really found dathomir to be as enjoyable as lok or dantooine.

endor is ok for good xp but the expense in getting there and back sucks.

i love lok as it always has a variety of things to do

kill kimos
kill pirates
kill nym
kill droiedkas(usually get killed by droidekas)
run nym theme park missions
hunt gurks
hunt giant dune kimo

seems like theres alway a great way to die on lok

Nitra's post is right on but I would avoid killing Nym's guys. Getting really bad Nym faction leads to a lot of cloning if you want to call Lok your "home away from home" . . .

Yep .. i do find it funny however that some of the best drops are found on nym ie. vibro motors ,high powered caps, and feeder mechs.

its almost like the devs are encouraging you to kill nym pirates.
