Ok, crossposted with you

Now, that they finally released this, do we have an answer for our issues? Or is that the answer, and we will be told "in about half a year we will have a new system anyway so don't bother with your problems now"?

It's a post whereTH says alot about nothing. Where just gonna have to see it piece by piece as they implement the new system whatever it is. Could use a few details because as our profession goes our whole strength is to take you down quick, we aint KD artists and we aint tanks, we are machinegunners(high quick damage)

-Note I know it's SOE policy but for once can they post something with a little detail, I don't blame TH or whoever has to do Community Relations, I just blame the lawyers and salesrepsthat say the less customers know the better.

heh, PJ, I'd agree with you, but I'd change that to "TH says nothing about alot"...comes out about the same, though, I guess.

klaw, still no specific answer on whether that "conceal chance" is an addition, or a replacement to conceal shot? If possible, my request to you as our correspondant would be to push as hard as you can to keep riflemen's role as a sniper, and to increase our range as much as possible. Of course, range alone is not nearly enough if it means the target is still bearing down on us and closing to melee range no matter what. We need our conceal shot, whatever else they stick us with for grouping.

Sounds like a lot of changes.I guess it should be interesting.

You never know, in four months time we might have a fun, relatively bug free, tactic based combat system.

maybe, or we could have a DAoC/EQ type system where any one class can only do one thing in combat...I guess we'll see ....

I think this could be a really good thing (at least better than the actual system).
And i think TH is telling more then enough (at least more then he used to tell before at other topics).

It's all about a big change, and TH is just informing us that some things will be crappy for a (short) time, so we (and with "we" i mean all professions) should instantly start "whining" about some changes that just seem to be underpowered before the whole list of changes is implemented. IMO the way TH goes with this information is right and good.

At the end it looks like it will be a good change for rifleman too, looks like the devs read our "top 5 issues" !

- There will be more weapons and certifications (or some other sort of certification-system)

- The whole "unnerf the T21" discussion will (hopefully) find an end as the damage-system on weapons will change

- The whole "decrease mind cost on specials" discussion will (hopefully) find an end as the whole special-attack-system will change, and it really looks like all combat-professions will have the same "disadvantages" like rifleman (specials costs use unhealable pool).

Not enough, there are even more things that IMO seem to be very good:

- PVP will need more tactics and not just "i spam my specials till he is dead and heal me then". The Rifleman-Profession is one of the few professions that had to use higher tactics in combat, so we will have an advantage cause we are already trained for that

- The use of creatures will have a change, so one of the biggest fears in PVP for rifleman (that everyone can send one or more melee-fighting pets on you with your 2.5-melee) will (could) get decreased

If SOE and the devs really take the time and the wisdom the think about the best way first and start programming then, if they really manage to create a system the intend to (as TH says), then it will be good. From a developers point of view (i am a developer myself) creating a completely new combat-system (creatures, HAM, weapons, etc) from the scratch is always the better way to go then just append a hotfix here and a patch-change there to an old system.

I'll look forward what is coming (and start to plray that it'll be good).

From what I understand, they will be telling everyone the Top Five. I don't think they are going to allow the Correspondents at this point.

we’re getting a new “table”.

We’re also putting in more swooshes and blaster bolts!

We want to rekindle the exciting strengths of the combat system that were always intened.

All in all, the HAM will be mighty.

Each profession will take on exciting differences .

We will all be playing in a game environment with sensibly balanced combat system that is fun and challenging.

Allow me to paraphrase: Welcome to Beta II.

"From what I understand, they will be telling everyone the Top Five. I don't think they are going to allow the Correspondents at this point."

To be honest, i don't believe the devs will tell us anything, nor they will allow the correspondants allow to tell anything.
It has been weeks (more then a month?) since the top5 have been sent, since then 3 patches have been applied, but did we hear any response ?

I bet they will figure this TH-Post as answer for all Top5-Issues.

I start getting frustrated, i don't believe SOE takes care of it's customers.
As i said, i am a developer myself, and if i would let any of my customer wait more then a week for an answer i am sure i would get fired.

Anyway.... I am looking forward on these new changes and really hope that this time it is not just warm air the devs and TH blows around like they did before.

I'm pretty sure it is.Between my experience contracting with large corporations and spending the last 2+ years following this dev team, I feel pretty confident in saying hiring TH was nothing more than a PR move to put new dressing on the same old same old. They really don't appear to have any intention at all of releasing any actual information. Every response they've given has been, "our next response will give more details" followed by another whole lot of nothing.

A lot of hot air going around. Have they even really looked at these top 5 lists? Im getting the impession it was a PR move that has gone bad.
