Thread: short range weapon
I find spraystick kinda useless in short range combat, I usually use it to finish off lairs.
I would suggest pick up a few boxes in pistol for short range.

I find spraystick usefull because of its good accuracy at short range so when target is close to me I take it re^placing my T21. I am only 2001 at rifle but will go on my way to master.
What do you suggest to use at short range, spraystick or is it better to use other (beam fifle ?), above all when I go to master and improve my accuracy, do you go on using short range rifle ?.
Thanks for your advice.

I ground Rifle all the way to Master using Pistols for my in close defense. If I had to do it over again, I would not do this. I would, instead, go up 2H weapons in Brawler. Why?
There are two reasons to stick with Spraystick in close encounters, to continue using Rifle specials and to continue to gain rifle XP. However, it also means that, if they are in melee combat against you, you will take the melee to-hit bonus against you if you stay with Spraystick. So the main reason to swtich to apistol is to survive.
However, if you go this route, you do not just give up Rifle XP, you give up the ability to continue to target mind. This means you are, often, effectively starting over once they get within melee range. While switching to 2H Swords instead of Pistols will not continue to give you Rifle XP, it will allow you to continue to attack mind. It also gives you Lunge1 to do a posture down attack, Intimidate1 to reduce damage to you and the target's defenses, and Warcry1 to delay them for 10 seconds (provided you do not damage them before the time is up). This latter ability may give you time to get away. The combination of these things will allow you to kill things more quickly than if you simply switch to Pistols.
If I had it to do over again, I would go this route at least until I got to Master Rifleman. You can always drop it later if you choose to go with a different skillset to complement rifle. Me? I did it backwards. I went Master Rifle, then Master Swordsman, then Master Brawler. If I had it to do over again, I would level 2H and Rifle at the same time.
I use my "armor on macro" to don my 70% composite and switch to spray stick...
