Thread: They better not make us into snipers.

It seems like just about everyone posting in the developer page for rifleman(forget what the post's name is...)are asking to make us actual SNIPERS.


Not only would that be just plain stupid in an MMORPG, only ONE(2 if you count tusken rifle) of our guns are actual sniper rifles....the tenloss DXR-6b.


Most of our weapons are either heavy assault guns like the T21(which I think of as the SAW of SWG), or medium assault rifles like the E-11(which ISthe M-16 of starwars). Also, half of our moves are

machine gun attacks


I think if weareto get more of a sniper capability, the only thingthat should change is make both the DXR-6b and tusken sniper both like 10.0speed but VERY HIGH damage and horrible ranged mods up close. Keep everything else about us exactly the same as now.


That way we have a heavy machine gun, assault rifle, and sniper rifle. Just like real life, we can use our assault weapons for full auto/suppression fire, or switch to semi auto mode andusewell aimed shots to take down the enemy.


ALSO, the spray stick has to be fixed. Go pick up the book "Star Wars the essential guide to weapons and techonology." Go look on pages 30-31, on it there is apic of what the spray stick SHOULD look like according to the EU.It isover a meter long, more like a rifle. The one we have now is like a small pistol. It should alsobe doing ELECTRIC damage, possibly even restraint....

I hope they do make us into Snipers if they push a speed cap on us.


If they introduce a speed cap then they obviously dont want us to be machine gunners, however they also dont want to us to be snipers or assisins. We need to push for one becuse the worst thing ever would be to be stuck in the middle with slow speed, lower damage, high ham and lower defenses.

my this is depressiong... i dropped carbines for riffle... and now i hear all this gloom and doom...
I took riffle man for the defense and more mind damage to acompany my master sword abilities..........but the big revamp is sopoesedly gonna fix stuff...yeah right.

So whats a swordsman to do to round out his class now?!? other than take it up the nerf hole...

Teh tenloss DXR-6 is not a sniper gun. It's a disruptor weapon, meaning close range.

Pay no attention to the NERF Rifleman posts. I haveonly onceseen a DEV post about a speed cap, that was TH stating that if one was impleteted the damage would be adjusted accordingly. If they did make Rifleman purely snipers, so be it. But remember the snipers motto, "One Shot, One Kill", and they would have to take us off the radar and not autotargetable unless we are actually firing, in order for the title to fit. And unless its a stealth nerf, it's not in the notes so irregardless I would not expect to see a change in the next patch. I'm of the opinion that the only balancing the Rifleman needs is to there accuracy at short range

They also need to fix the bug in our melee defenses because they took away the 2.5x melee damage modifier, and, while they were supposed to make us easier to hit, they made us harder to hit. This should be fixed in the next publish, but it needs to be fixed.

Heh they might try and make us snipers, but seeing someone go prone and try to "snipe" stuff at 64m is going to be funny.

One thing is certain beyond all other things, no matter what the speed cap, they will never implement a one shot, one kill ability for any class, espeically if we could not be seen, like so many keep asking for. Can you imagine the nerf cries as soon as people start dying in combat from one shot, and especially if they had no way to know it was coming to begin with. They scream nerf now even though they can target us and it takes a half a dozen or more shots to bring them down.


This will never happen. So, sadly, if they fail to see that DPS is not the only issue in the game (my DPS drops to 0 when I am knocked down and dizzy) and giveus a speed cap, we will be caught in the middle.

True, we could never be "real" snipers.

Gunners and sniping share a common point: high damages.

Imho, rifle(wo)men should be teh damage dealers (high damages, high speed), with (very)low defense for balance it.

Honestly were not just snipers. The T-21 is a medium repeating rifle. Our noive rifleman weapon isnt even a sniperrifle for crying out loud

aye sniping inthisRPG just doesnt work.. and never will... all the things that make sniping different to just long range shooting cant be implemented due to engine and playablility contraints..
