Thread: Questioning my decision. Help please...

IN SHORT:


What profession(s) will BEST assist and aid the Riflemen Profession in a PvP setting. Once i am a master riflemen, i will only use rifles and not switch to any other weapon. With that said, what profession will most assist me in a PvP combat.





IN LONG:

I had made a decision a while ago to go with a Master Riflemen, Master Fencer, and 4-3-0-4 Teras Kasi Template. I am now master fencer, 1-0-2-3 Riflemen,and haven't started on the TKA yet.


Anyways, I have been looking around at what other people have been doing... how its been working... and how mine has worked.


Don't get me wrong, i love my template... but i was thinking... how effective is it?


Once I master Riflemen, I wont be using anything other then Rifles. I love Rifles. To death! Its all i want to use. I picked fencer/tka to give my riflemen defenses... Good idea right? But aren't the defenses most effective when i am using a one-hand weapon or no weapon at all?


I just want to bounce this off of some of you more experianced riflemen.


Any help will be great help!

It was my understanding that the Dodge from Fencer only works when you have a pistol or Fencer weapon equipped (and only goes to a max of 125). The corresponding Block from whatever melee has it was supposed to be corresponding to Rifleman...

I thought CM/Rifleman/Brawler was the FOTM and strongest template recently.

most effective in pvp hmm would be :


rifleman/doc

rifleman/cm

rifleman/pikeman (adds block (the rifleman defence template ^_^))

rifleman/tkm adds lots of other things


those are the most likely to be seen if you want rifleman to be your primary damage dealer

if on the other hand you don't mind changing weapons


rifleman/fencer (stun damage)(will be changed come the combat revamp (when ever that will be))



or something like this abombination

MRM, 4004TK, 0040pike, MBrawler, novice medic


you can gain dizzy defence and knockdown defense etc from other skills such as fencer without having to have the weapon equiped... dodge will not work with rifle (is why i pointed at pikeman whos defence does stack with rifle defences)

You'll have greatoffense and defense verses most damage typesif you complete your template. I think a great template is master rifles/master fencer/4301 tka and novice medic. You get maxed ranged/maxed melee, great dodge, great state defenses, ability to headshot3 with a rifle and the ability to hold your own very well up close with a decent acklay baton.


But, as things are now, you still no defenses against poison/disease and still no ability to throw them. At the moment, dots are king in PVP. I personally believe the best PVP template is master rifles/4030 doc/4004 CM.

Well, i have decided to get rid of fencer. So i went to http://swgcb.yogn.net/swg-cb.php?rs=35&t=0and made a few templates.


This is my favorite one because I will be able to destroy and anihilate anything in PvE (Commando), while still being strong in PvP (Riflemen). In addition to that, its just cool


Master Riflemen

Master Marksmen

Teras Kasi 4-3-0-4

Commando 0-4-4-0


And the following is the skill mod summary of what this piticular template would yield. Its a shortened version to only show what will matter (Example: There isn't anything in this list about my carbine weapon speed because i wont be using it, even though i get some from master marksmen)

But then again, with the new information of pikemen, this template would be superior in PvP, and still hold its own in PvE.

It depends on how you fight. Master Rifleman goes well with several professions. Some combos have been mentioned.


As has been stated, while you are holding your Rifle, the Block secondary defense is all that will matter, so if you are trying to boost defenses while holding your Rifle, Pikeman is your choice. However, if you expect to switch to melee a lot, TKA or Fencer are your better choices since Fencer has the best defenses and TKA has a lot of nice bonuses, like Meditate and Powerboost. TK also allows you to attack mind. Swordsman is a great combo with Rifleman (especially if also a Master Brawler) because it has the most damage and can attack mind, but it, like Rifleman, is an offensive build and other builds offer better defenses. But for PvE, a Master Rifleman/Master Swordman/Master Brawler is virtually unstoppable.


If you do not plan to get up close an personal, you can consider Master Doc. For PvP, especially with CMs running around, you can heal your own posions and diseases and you can heal huge amounts of Health and Action damage. You can buff yourself anytime, and you can do the same for others. If melee does get close to you, you can cure states (dizzy, stun, intimidate, and blind).


I loved my build with Master Rifleman/Master Swordman/Master Brawler for PvE. But I got tired of being poisoned and diseased in PvP and being able to do nothing about it, so I dropped the melee for Master Doc. I miss the other skills, but I do not regret the change.

Thank you very much Sotaudi. That is exactly what i was looking for. A nice, describtive reply. It will help my dicision greatly.


Just out of curiousity... what do you think of the Riflemen/commando combo that i posted above?


What about the rest of the community. Think Riflemen/commando has a place in todays SWG?
