Thread: Anyone have any Tricks or Tips on how to get up once Dizzied and Knocked Down?

Hello, all - I've got a long winded question for some of the real experts out there.

I've got a Master Marksman/Master Commando/Master Rifleman, with a few Force Sensitive Skills on the side (Ranged Accuracy, Ranged Speed, RangedDefence - with Melee Defence otw with the next rotation of the village phases).

I'm pretty happy with this combo so far and have a lot of fun with it.

If I had one complaint, it would be that it seems I have little defence, or resistance to being dizzied and then knocked down. This isn't so much an issue in PvE, but it is a bit of an issue in PvP depending on who (or what) I'm fighting.

So - before you start advising me of better combinations of defence stakingprofessions, I was wondering if there were any specials or tricks out there that Ican use to get back up on my feet after somebody has dizzied me and knocked me on my tail end.

I'm accepting that particularly in PvPI WILL be dizzied, and that the inevitable posture change, or knockdown will in short order - likely send me flopping on my back doing the funky chicken, while some melee guy moves in for the curbstomp.

I'm just looking for a way out, or even a leg up- if there is one.

Now - my Alt, is a Master Pistoleer/Master Smuggler/Teras Kasi Master, and I have been able to successfully use the Marksman (Pistol) special "Kip up shot" to move from a kneeling position back to standing - when dizzied - without falling over. Very handy indeed, and I can use this with my Primary toon (Rifleman/Commando/Marksman) simply by swithcing to a Pistol briefly and using this special.

However, to the best of my knowledge, there is no way "out" - once you are actually on your back.

Under Marksman Ranged Support - there is also a tumble to standing special, which appears to work with all ranged weapons. (can't recall the name of it right now). I'm assuming this too can put a guy posture changed to one knee - back on his feet, safely if he was dizzied (been a while since I've actually used it).

Is there ANYTHING I could do, or should be doing when actually laying on my back - to get back up and (actively) back into the fight, instead of just laying there taking the beats?

Or are there things I should be doing/could be doing to simply avoid getting dizzied/knocked down in the first place - and maintain a good defence as my best offence?

I already scoff down air cake and thatkillo in addition to the ahrisa, canape and Brandy.

Thanks in advance for the advice/info or suggestions.

A couple minor things.

When you hit stand there is a small window of opportunity where you can actually attack before you fall over again. At least there was last time I checked.

The other suggestion is to not spam the 'Stand' key. When you spam it you keep trying to stand even if one is successful it counts as a posture change causing another KD effect.

The two above are mutually exclusive. To attack while Dizzy/KD you have to spam your attack and your stand for it to work. While the second require you to hit it slowly.

Only other thing I could think of would be to take up Feign Death from Smuggler. Use it when you get Dizzy/KD at least until the Dizzy wears off.

I find that pausing to let Combat Equilibrium do its thing for sec works ok, then slowly pressing stand and praying. Lots of praying.

big things for ppl with low defenses are foods such as thaktillo (+100 to defense vs kd.) and ithorian mist (+20-+50 defense vs dizzy) with those you will still be vulnerable to falling over to the posture change but it helps. I usually get dzzy/kd'd but with my combat equilibrium i stand right back up, so then they can try and get me down using posture change. so you will end up on your back in most fights but you seem to know and be able to live with that so those are some suggestions. and as waste said above, just type /stand, then wait for the message that says "your so dizzy you fall over" then hit it again. DO NOT SPAM!!! ifyou spam you will never get out of it other than that all i can say is just stay away from PvP with your commando rifle character if it frustrates ya to much.

Thanks for the suggestions guys!

I've always spammed the crap out of "stand", just to flop over perpetually. Now I know why, lol **smacks self in forehead**.

I have also never tried Ithorian Mist - its been on my "to do" list, but just haven't gotten around to it.

Suddenly procuring some Ithorian Mist seems to have made it tothe top of my "to do" list.

I'll have to try Combat Equilibrium and see if it helps - though I assume I'll have to equip a melee weapon to get it going. I've tried swearing, and that doesn't help get my toon on his feet any faster so who knows - maybe praying will.

Anyhow - I was pretty sure there wasn't a "silver bullet", but I figured I'd ask as I'm always impressed with the innovative solutions a lot of players have for a variety of differentproblems/issues.

Thanks again everyone.

As it stands right now unless you are fighting a Jedi or an uber stacker, Dizzy/KD is the win button. Pure and simple.

I also have a commando rifleman, and I have had combat equilibrium kick in hold a flamethrower, never while holding a rifle. Now, its only been a couple of times, so it may just be that it hasn't kicked in with rifles yet. Also I always switch to a flamethrower once my attackers close to within 20-25m anyway. Get some good thakatilo, and eat it. I have also found that it seems you are more succesful trying to stand when you have high kd resistance. my best bet is using a rifle to flurry/flushing shot 2 them, warcry /peace switch to a flamethrower, use suppriossion fire with your flamethrower to make them stick in place, then start with your flamespecials.

nice tactics, but i strongly suggest you do the suppression fire with your rifle (before you warcry). Might it fail the first time, you can retry alot faster with rifle (1s) then with FT.

use the thak food to limit the kd part of the dizzy/kd combo. thats about the only way i know of to not be floppin in PvP all the time. dont burst run when your dizzy either, stand and fire and just run around, use buildings to your advantage (cut los) and try your best to keep distance from the melee.

try to stick a stun (flushing shot)or your own dizzy (flurryshot) on the melee guys when u first engagewith an accuracy modded dxr6 or e-11 rifle, then switch to your power rifle when u get it to stick.

nope doc's are vunerable to since heals got added to the combat que u can't use a dizzy stim unless standing, and u can't stand if ur dizzy, the only chance is to spam stand and the dizzy stim and u may get a heal off before u fall over again!

btw, you dont want to tumble last time I used it (other then for med xp), 15 months ago, it disabled the use of all specials till the tumble effect wore off
