Thread: What makes rifleman as good as pistoleer.
Since the very beginning I have planned on making my character a rifleman, but as I've been leveling rifle, carbines and pistol to reach master marksman I've been wondering if rifle is really worth going for. The rifle seems much harder to level, much slower and much less acurate. Can someone help me understand how a rifleman can compete with the speed and accuracy of a pistol?
My original thought was that a rifleman could get further away and therefore get more shots off while the enemy charged. But as far as I can tell the pistol is so much faster and more acurate then the rifle that the tiny amount of extra distence is a waste.
Also because all the rifle's special attacks do mind damage I feel like I'm gimping myself for those times when the enemy does reach me. No matter how far I've worked his mind bar down, if he gets to me, I need to switch to melee or a pistol which does health damage. My extra rifle shots were a waste. If I stay with my rifle and run away, my shots are way to slow and miss way to much. It seems to me like a pistol at far range is much more accurate then a rifle at close range or while I'm running. Am I right or is it just my imagination?
Lastly the weapons that I"ve been able to find are grossly imbalanced as far as action shots go. I can do health / torso shots with my Scout Blaster or FWG5 pistol and the little amount of lost HAM reginerates in the time it takes to do another special shot. I havn't been able to find a better rifle then my DLT20a (Damage 102-161, speed 6) but it does a number on my HAM bar whenever I do a special shot. None of the higher level rifles I've found such as E11 or Spraystick have been any better as far as damage or action costs.
Please someone tell me it gets better as I go up the master rifleman tree. Will I be able to compete with the speed of the pistol? Will I be able to kite the enemy and actually land head shots? Do the action costs go down?
I hope you can all help, thanks.
