Hi there,

I've been a doc/fencer for quite some time but I just cant't stand being kited any longer, having no range skills. So tonight I'll be getting my cdef and going off to get some kreetles outside Anchorhead (all low HAM critters fear me!!). So I need to check on a few things;

#1 what shall i grind rifles4 on?

#2 what shall I grind nov rifles on?

#3 what shall be my staple diet for grinding the rest, assuming I have oodles of combat xp from my past 6 months of killing jantas and rancors while I was earning cash? I'm told pikets on dant give good xp and big spawns

I know its not the best time to change my profession at this point in time what with the combat balance coming up, but I need a change from melee. I tried carbs before and pistolsbefore so I'm looking forward to doing a prof with a good set of awesome weaponry available at reasonable prices(5 million for an average stun baton is insane) and have heavy armour piercing too. Without giving up my doc skills I wont have range support or master marksman so I know I'll need to bump up the speed a bit after I hit master, but I'm looking forward to kiting a few brawlers once I'm up and running and not having to dizzy/lunge a ranged opponent before I get a chance to do the slightest damage.

I dunno if you wanna really do this. A Doc/Fencer is as good, if not better, than any Rifleman/<Insert profession here>

Your high defenses are absolutely great- you will miss them in a second. If PvP has got you down, don't worry- it's junk right now. After the CB, I bet you'll be quite happy. Especially since Fencers are getting the fewest changes of any profession (so the Devs make it seem). If you must PvP, make sure you have damage-reduction food, Dodge food, and Mind drinks and some spices. And never, ever forget about /burstrun. If kiting is your problem, there is nothing wrong with running indoors. That is where you are supposed to fight. If a kiting Rifleman won't follow you, I'd say you won

If you do decide to switch to Rifleman, we'll be here to help, but be warned: We are getting possibly the shortest end of the stick when this CB gets here. I really have to urge you to stick with what you have- It's a real winner and sounds like a lot of fun. Too bad for me, rifles are where my heart is

Let us know how you decide, k?

I hear you, and yes I do go indside when I'm kited to force others onto my territory, but it's an empty feeling when they leave, I don't feel much like a winner. I already stack up on synthsteak pikita pie citrus snow cake etc for fencer with brandy and complete body and mind buffs, but most of the guys I run with are ranged so to leave them and go tanking means I can't use my doc skills for the good of the group. In fact most timesI die are when I get a rush of blood and go burst running after a CM leaving myself stranded.Duelling, I'm pretty unstoppable if its a straight one v one. No other template compares as far as I'm concerned if your opponent wants to trade hits with the exception of the odd defence stacker. But in the pvp raiding scenario I'd prefer a range prof

The rebalance is at least a few months off. It'll only take a few easy days to master rifleman, especially if you are capped on combat xp. It won't cost a fortune to get some speed tapes and decent guns either.

Rifleman is just good fun and is by far my favourite profession, The Combat rebalance is exactly that, a balance, so any Negatives will be balanced with advantages.

All the professions will be brought into balance, so just choose a profession in the style of combat you prefer and enjoy it.

For me its my T21 all the way.

If you're fully armored and buffed, go to Dantooine and hunt Quenkers or Huurtons. Use a pet to tank if at all possible.

If you're capped on combat XP, you'll get a nice area attack and a boost to your rifle speed when you get your Novice Rifleman qualifications. At that point, the pet tank becomes even more necessary for fast XP. Send the pet to attack the lair. Wait until everything aggros it and spam your area attacks. For the last half of my grind, I took down Piket and Huurton lairs using my pets and regularly got over 300,000 XP per hour. Sure you can get it faster (Geo caves), but this is nearly risk-free hunting and you get paid for it. Just my 2 creds.

To get to rifles IV, I would recommend Naboo. Hang out behind the starport in Moenia and kill anything that moves until you get Rifles II. This should take about 20-25 minutes. Then start Kaduu/Gualama missions; they pay out 2k per mission, and can be obtained from mission terms as long as you keep novice fencer. Do these until you get Rifles III, it shouldn't take more then 5-6 missions. For Rifles IV up until Novice Rifleman, my preference is Plains Tusk missions in Naboo. They pay out 2.6k per mission, and give out roughly 10-13k xp per lair if you have a pet/droid grouped. And they are easier in my opinion then quenker lairs at this stage. Make sure to attack the females first, the males won't aggro. Once you hit Novice, head to [choice of planet], and you'll be on your way.

Hope this helps

Actually, I recommend a slightly different template. Its one I'm working on, however it uses Rifleman in place of fencer.

Doctor - 4300 (lets me heal poisons and disease)

Combat Medic - 4004 (lets me use poisons and diseases, though I can't craft them)

Rifleman - (master)

You can switch this template with Fencer, however you'll only be 3000 in Doctor.

I like the logic behind your template Sparticus but I can't buff or rez and any powerful poison and disease cureswould bebeyond my medicine use skill, so itwouldnt let me do more than cure dizzy etc. That, andI'd have to buy meds that were experimented for lower med use level. I dont think CM med use would augment my doc buffing skills, plus the fact that I need to craft meds and I enjoy the bonus pts that Master Doc adds to healing, so Master doc stays for the forseeable future. I wouldn't pick my nose unbuffed these days, Master docs dont like to feel naked with 400 health and action and I could never queue for a buff again.

but thanks to the previous posts for their suggestions on what to hunt. I'll try Naboo out since I never really hang there that much, mostly its Tatooine Dantooine or Dathomir.
