In the original SW universe the T-21 could only fire off 25 shots after a fresh clip needed to be inserted, but an optional backpack generator offered unlimited shots. The T-21 did fire full auto and pretty fast and often had added bi or tri-pods to them. The T-21 in my opinion is a pretty lousy choice for the riflemen profession as it fires so slowly. A more suitable weapon would be a SoroSuub X-45 Sniper Rifle that does fire slower and fits the parameters for the current T-21. The problem, as someone mentioned in another post, with distance is that it's hard for someone to fire over 64 meters. If it was added into the game making it 100 meters or so let's say, people would complain left and right about this advantage, especially if near radar invisibility was added.

An official stat book that I have says that the BlasTech E-WEB Heavy Repeating Cannon can be fired by 1 person but at reduced firing speed as to keep the generator inline for it, but requires atleast 2 people to carry it and for best performance 2 to operate it(gunner, generator crewman). Even still, if the E-WEB were to be added into the game, it isn't very hard to let's say make 1 riflemen carry the gun and tripod while another riflemen carries the generator. The process of setting up the repeater could take maybe 3 rounds of combat: placement of tripod, placement of gun on tripod, hooking up of generator, and as someone mentioned alsp, movement is restricted when deployed. Make one riflemen fire the weapon at normal speed while the other riflemen plays the support role for him(making him unable to fire or move aswell), or allow the support riflemen to go off on his own but let the gunner fire at reduced speed.

When someone also said adding heavy weapons is a Commandos fortee and not a riflemens I think you're wrong. At this point I consider the entire Commando profession wrong. Commandos are supposed to be stealthy individuals, usually armed with good hand to hand fighting and silenced weaponry as compaired to todays special forces, able to go behind enemy lines to complete there missions in complete secrecy. Maybe, aswell, a Commando revamp is also needed. Maybe adding in such feats as being able to enter factional bases while turrets are still up, or being able to use some sort of radar invisiblity, cloaking the Commando from view from all, but revealing the Commando when he/she gets too close to a turret, scanner, player character, or when the Commando fires, etc.

There are many options that can be considered for the future of riflemen. Maybe the riflemen profession can be vamped a bit, renaming it the Sniper profession, and a Support Gunner class of sorts could be added with the T-21 and E-WEB as profession specific weapons. Possibly a medium ranged mobile mortar(with the same parameters of the E-WEB I mentioned above) that can be based off of ingame coordinates radioed to the gunner by a squad leader or another support gunner with the nessasary skills could be added as well.

I personally have been preaching and talking about the whole Support Gunner profession as I listed above for quite sometime. When the combat revamp comes out, I just say, SOE, strip Riflemen down and make it more sniper-esque and add a Support Gunner class similar to as I listed above. It isn't that hard to make a new profession and add all that is needed for it, it just takes a few weeks or so. Revive the the main focal point of SW: The Civil War!

You stated that the T21 is a bad choice because it fires to slow. Then go on to say a better choice is the X-45 which fires slower. That does not make sense.

Which makes being snipers impossible. Since we can not be sniper there is no place for a sniper rifle.

This forces grouping to use a weapon. Not only are you forced to group but also to find a Rifleman specifically to group with. Also you would have to find someone to basically sit there in the support role. Not only can they not move they can't fire or do anything else. Not a whole lot of fun.

When someone also said adding heavy weapons is a Commandos fortee and not a riflemens I think you're wrong. At this point I consider the entire Commando profession wrong. Commandos in this game are misnamed just as are Combat Medics. Commandos correctly used are Raiders. Trained to operate behind enemy lines and conduct hit and run attacks. However in SWG a Commando is a Heavy Weapon specialist. As this is how they are defined in SWG the E-Web is in their line of weapons. Not the Riflemens.

There are many options that can be considered for the future of riflemen. As has been discussed many times before. There can not be any snipers in the game. As such there is no reason to rename the Rifleman to this or try to implement it. All that will do is gimp the profession.

E-Web or a mortar would be heavy weapons. Hence Commando profession.

I personally have been preaching and talking about the whole Support Gunner profession as I listed above for quite sometime. You can not add snipers to the game unless you are willing to add radar invisibility, increased ranges, and one shot kills.

A support gunner class isn't a bad idea. But it would be a revamp of the Commanodo profession, not the Rifleman. However you don't want to add another profession that is very similar to an existing one. It makes for to much crossover between those professions and destroys their uniqueness.

Rifleman is basic infantry with some sniper like abilities. Nothing more, nor can it be given the combat limitations.
