I'm more a food/drink kinda guy, haven't used spice that much except very rarely muon.
I'm wondering what your take as rifleman is on spice.

Personally - I don't use the stuff as my primary means of boosting my mind, or any other spices for that matter.
As I'm sure you'll agree - Muon is a good boost to your mind pool, if your mind buff just dropped, or your stomach is just too full to accomodate anything else yet - and you NEED to get back into the fight pronto.
I use it as a last resort, as its duration and the downer are usually too much of a liability for anything else but "emergencies".
Its far far FAR more efficient to migrate your stats a little heavier on mind and get a music and dance buff on top of that, so that you only need to take bite of some Ahrisa, oneshot of brandy and at best - one serving of Canape in a pinch. This leaves your stomach roughly half empty to accomodate other foods and drink and you can spam as many specials as you want without weakening your mind pool.
It IS defnitelygood to have that ace in the hole so to speak -I've always got one Muon ready "just in case".
Thats my experienceanyways.

Spice was THE THING back in the day. The Chef foods have pretty much destroyed the need for spices. Now spices are pretty much needed only for EMERGENCIES since they don't take up any stomach space.
Don't know how long you have been around SWG, but back before the Chef update (early 2004? - dont remember) where they got all the current foods, there was no way for a rifleman to protect his Mind bar from shrinking rapidly as he fired specials. The only way to slow it down was to become addicted to Muon. I made a LOT of money selling muon prior to the chef revamp. After the chef revamp, the market dried up fast. Neutron Pixie was also popular, but not as popular as muon. The other spices were pretty much losers from the start.
I carry muon and neutron pixie for emergencies, and have only used them maybe twice in the past few months.

yea thats been the general consensus i spose.
that spices are more of a last resort and a liability due to the downer.
i haven't used them with enough frequency to form my own definite opinion either way.
we'll see how well they fare after the curb and the mythic smuggler revamp.

Yeah, before the be BE foods, muon was the way to go. One muon was two lairs and the downer on the way back for more quenkers... I still have a couple crates of eh stuff when you paid 5k per crate if you could find it. Now I see it selling for 500 a crate...
But I keep it for emergencies also...

I use food extensively. BUT, the cost of food has led me to explore techniques using spice. (can find around 1500cr a crate or lower from a firend) With a buff, so I dont ever have to watch my H/A pools (non buff hunting is a blast but I have to be in the mood for it, for peace of mind the 12k buff is worth it to me and speeds up the mission loop), a brandy(or two),ahrissa,a muon, and an occassional canape,I have gotten my timing down to two missions and on the return ride home I get the downer. Pick up new missions, new muon at the first lair and loop.
Use PUP's always, Strafe shot, and then mind shot continuously for wicked fast kills. Works on every planet from all the missions I have pulled from up to a 6 person group.
If I am just land crawling I keep the muon in toolbar as an emergency as the downer at an ill fated time can mean a quick trip to the cloning ooze pool.
Juice man...gimme the juice...
