I'm a master rifleman, block is currently 80. If I get the foot soldier defnesive line of pikes, my block will cap at 125 (165 in fact). As I'd have totakethe skill points from the pistols defense tree, I'm wondering what kind of improvement will I see in my block stat when it's capped, compared to just 80? is it worth making the switch?

not as much as you would like when in rifleman mode - in pikeman mode with COB running block activates quite often. It doesn't help rifleman that much at all.

Iread through 40 or so threads, and not one answered my question satisfactorily. I'm not going to check them all, since after refining my search various times, the best reponse i was able to capture was "it helps!"All I'd like is the opinion of someone who first mastered rifles, then picked up the pike defense line. What sort of improvement did you see? I'm looking for specific and definite info. You don't have to sit down and count while during combat, but if you could geusstimate some numbers on effectiveness, that would help me a lot. Thanks to all that actually help!

Mastered Both Pikes and Rifles.. The best Def I have comes from Pistols... Not Block.. Does this help?

Thanks Ackehece, great links! I am satisfied now that sticking with pistols defenses are my best bet, becuase I won't gain much over ranged fighters, which I was most concerned with.
