you need a shellfish tool (quest item) - nothing drops it per say. (kinda like needing a fishing rod for fish)

This might be better in the ranger, chef, bio-engineer or scout forums.

(but really there is no good place to ask about this)

The shellfish harvester schematic can be obtained by doing missions for a character in Wayfar(Tattooine), his surname is Banai (he's the father if Kitster who gives you missions in Mos Espa) and can be found on the east side of town in the tent area. You get the schematic after the fourth mission for an NPC under a group of tents in SW Wayfar. The actual tool and process of getting shell fish and crustaceans is rather dull. Basically you stand in water and push the hot bar button you stuck the tool in. It tells you if you found a crustacean or mollusks. That's it. There's no surveying for the highest concentration. There's no neat little interactive menu like fishing. You just push a button over and over again while your boots fill with water. All the while hoping that maybe you'll find something. I'm glad that shell fish finally made it into the game, but it definitly feels a little bit like a tacked on after thought. Maybe I'm just being too picky.
