Thread: is it a good idea to take 2H swordsman to offset
our crappy melee range skills. our do you think the spraystick will be any good?
I've only recently started looking at the sweep special though, how do you use, combine it with flushing shot for a knockdown maybe?
My understanding is that the only hope for a rifleman to get a knockdown of any sorts is to do a posture change with dizzy and strike the enemy as he tries to stand up. I've heard this works, but it's never worked for me. I started as rifleman / 2 handed and it works great for soloing creatures. It is absolutely a pathetic combination for any enemy who
A) knows where you are
B) has a pistol or carbine
Bacially it's due to the fact that they just runfrom your two handed weapon and chargewhen you equipyour rifle. Every now andthen a stupid NPC will try to go prone and you get him, buta player character will NEVER do that. Besides that, creatures don't stimpack themselves usually so doing xtra mind damage hasn't been helpful compared to what the sword dishes out through specials.
So I'm giving up rifle and going for master carbineer. At least that way I can knockdown an opponent then try and get to them with the sword.

Yes, it is what I had to do. I found an excellent sword. I also sold out a bit and have a FWG5 (nice weapon btw). I'll probably be selling points back tho, carbine isn't getting a whole lot of use really. I hate to give up the Master Marksman as the rifle bonuses in it are cool but there just are not enough points overall to achieve any good punch and have Master Ranger still. Hate to give up the pistol too, but eventually that too will go. I have found that Rifle/2-handed is a great combo. I'll still keep the ranged support tho, suppression fire for a rifleman is a MUST. FOr now, however, I can hit any part of the HAM and get a bleed... looks inmpressive to bleed ALL the HAM too :evil grin:
Get enough at leastto the 4th tier of 2-handed. That is where the sweep is. You can hit aggros while the one you have a bleed on drops.
